Well, days after King Harold V of Norway passed away, the Norwegian royal family has bid farewell and a ceremony attended by world leaders and royalty, including Australian born Queen Mary of Denmark. Ben Downey reports. Well, dozens of European royals and heads of state, as well as many others who had traveled from around the world. Of course, thousands of Norwegian residents turned out on the streets of Oslo to farewell. Well, King Harold, a man many of them referred to as their collective grandfather. His successor, King Hocker, marched behind his father's coffin on its journey to Oslo Cathedral. Behind him and his family were the Prince of Wales, representing his father, King Charles, as well as Princess Anne, who's Godmother, who, always, new monarch. Australian born Queen Mary of Denmark was also there alongside Frederick. Controversially though, the King's son-in-law was also in attendance, granted permission to attend to despise being on house arrest following his recent raid conviction.
But the scandal didn't really affect the solemn ceremony. After the mass, his coffin returned to the crypt to be laid to rest before the somber mood gave way to an uplifting one. Norwaygians cheering as flags around the country were hoisted to their full height, ending the 13-day period of mourning and beginning a new era not only for the Norwegian royal family, but the nation.
