New York Met's pitcher Nolan McClain stepped up for Team USA in the 2026 World Baseball Classic, making two key starts on the international stage. In his first outing against Italy on March 10th, the 26-year-old right-hander worked three innings, allowing three earned runs on two hits, including a pair of home runs, plus two walks and four strikeouts. Team USA fell eight to six in that group stage finale, putting McClain in the loss and drawing some early heat. Manager Mark DeRosa stuck with him for the championship game vs. Venezuela, where McClain went four and two-thirds innings on 63 pitches, giving up two earned runs on four hits, one walk and one strikeout. The USA offense couldn't get going, dropping a tight three to two decision.
