Boston Celtic Center, Nikola Vuchevich, suffered a fractured right ring finger during Friday's game against the Dallas Mavericks. He played less than two minutes in the first quarter before leaving for the locker room. The team ruled him out for the rest of the match-up. The Celtics announced on Saturday that Vuchavit had successful surgery to stabilize the injury. He will be re-evaluated in three to four weeks. This comes after the team traded for him from the Chicago Bulls on February 3rd. Foyvia had appeared in his 12th game with Boston, averaging 11.4 points and 7.8 rebounds in 23.5. Minutes per game, he shot about 44% from the field and 35% from 3.0 range. The big man boosted the Celtics net rating to plus 13.4 when he was on the court, compared to just plus 3.4 without him. His absence hit hard, especially a star forward Jason Tatum, made his season debut that same

night after a ruptured Achilles from last year's playoffs. Now, Boston will turn to centers, Neomyas Keta and Luca Garza to fill the role. At 35 years old, Vuchavit had been providing solid rebounding and force-facing early in his Celtics tenure. The Daily News Now is made possible with support from our sponsor.
