Nightcliff By-Election: Greens Defend Tight Seat

0:00Sydney's story is making news on March 7th. Vogue counting is underway in the nightcliff by election in Australia's Northern Territory, where the Greens are defending a super tight seat they won. By just 36 votes last year, the vote was triggered last month. When Greens member Kat McNamara stepped down for health reasons, she made history as the first Green to win a seat. There, flipping it from labor after they held it for 23 years. Four candidates are in the race. The Greens Suki Doris Walker, Labor's Ed Smelt, the country liberal party's Anjan Padel, an independent film, Scott. All of them have heard from voters that community safety and the environment topped the list of concerns. Polling at nightcliff high school saw a light foot traffic on Saturday, since many of the 5,938 enrolled voters had already cast ballots early. By Thursday, 2,264 votes were in, including some from mobile services and posts. Meanwhile, donation records just dropped, showing over $100,000 in total gifts to the candidates.
