17:17love that the public at large is now in a place where you go, well, wait, where's the information coming from? Because that's a very important thing to try and figure out, to try and ascertain. Right. This does feel like a, hey, you could look at it two ways if you wanted to. But let's give the report. Kyler Gordon, who's on IR with the calf injury, according to rap report, is away from the team working with his own trainer to accelerate recovery. So it's to say the plan is for Gordon to return a few weeks into the season and begin practicing shortly thereafter. Some optimism here. Now that is where I take issue. He goes on to say this has been a challenging recovery. Sometimes players work best, owning in with their own people. Yeah. That seems to be the case here. Barring a setback. Gordon should be back sooner rather than later. A whole bunch of conjecture and opinion mixed in with the report. Where there was the video where Kyler decided that he was going to go through some drills and look explosive and shuttle runs and all that stuff. That's cool. And my hope is that he comes back because

18:19I do think that he's a really important part of this team. I'd love to see him back in a Bears uniform. What I've noticed just from my time covering the team, the best relationships are people do have outside people do their bodywork to do their training, but it's usually in conjunction with the team. Now, maybe this is maybe this is not a wall. Like maybe this is them saying, okay, here's the plan. Take it to your guy. Do your schedule on your schedule. I would prefer if he were doing all of this on campus because he could do all of this. There's a whole staff that would be there and allocated to him to do all of this stuff while he was still being around his teammates. Why couldn't he have done it in training camp? Why now when the games are actually beginning is he away from the team? Maybe because he wasn't healed. I don't know. It's weird because he was there with in the Bengals game and then wasn't there at the end of all of this.

19:25The whole thing is strange and so we get a real sit down with Kyler. Yeah, this is trending towards an eventual sit down from Kyler. I just I have to double triple quadruple quintuple down on what it feels like, which is that this guy is slow playing the desire to not play anymore football. Whether there's some medical in there, some some some desire not to play, some some willingness to avoid the contact. I got paid and I don't care anymore. Whatever it is. And maybe there's legitimate injury discrepancy going on as well, but he is slow playing this desire to not play and now this furthers that and we've seen it happen and I think it's kind of gross and I find it disappointing and I think the bears are perplexed and they find it disappointing and I wouldn't count on that man to suit up again from my perspective. It'll be interesting. We want to get into this and really give it some time. By the way, the other piece of news from bears

There weren't really a lot of options and Roma Dunezay is day to day with the injury that's not the foot injury that he suffered that had him talking about the new normal. There's a lot going on. Yeah, just like, because there's like a later batting practice slot, but then a lot of times teams do like the early work where they can kind of take their time and do stuff. And so there's a couple guys out there. Now are they going the other way, even in batting practice? I saw I saw a thing the other day, man. Like they as a team go the opposite way with their approach. No other team in baseball does like literally 29 out of 30 have a contact point,

27:40you know, and an attack that is pull oriented and they're the only one in baseball that doesn't. Does it feel like they're that much of an anomaly as you're playing against them and thinking about that? That's interesting. And also makes you wonder like, and I do, you, is that a result of, you know, targeting players like that or is it talked about internally or, you know, things like that? Obviously, they're very high contact. They have a lot of speed. So those things allow you to maybe produce a little more like that. They're lower on home runs, but probably higher with hundreds and scoring positions. So there's so many different ways to have a good offense. Yeah, I wonder if they're if they're targeting for that or I also think it's just like the force deficiency of they know they're not going to be able to pay for slugging. So they don't, they just don't, they don't chase it in that way. Yeah, I don't know. I feel like they've had some teams in years past where maybe they were more platoon based and they had kind of higher slow guys for ready lefty matchups, but yeah, every year is different. Nico, while I was on vacation, I did catch you guys is slugfest against Mizorowski the last time. And I was sitting, I remember I was sitting

Like that's a guy that feels like he's invincible sometimes when he's on the mount. And you guys did a really good job against him. How much if any, does that matter? Like matter. Does it like feel different than a normal game or in what way? Does it, does it, when you have a guy that's been so good, when you do do well against him, the next time does it give you more confidence? Because I got him tonight again. Okay. Yeah, yeah, it's interesting. I think, you know, we've had sometimes against him where he's, he's obviously been, been dominant like he is against a lot of teams and, you know, time broke, like we've had good at bats, but haven't scored a lot and then we're able to break through some runs against him last time. So, no, I think anytime you're going up against top starters in the league, there's like, it's real that, you know, there's a real chance that they have a great game, right? Like that's a part of the league that we play in and same with one of me face schemes a lot,

So this time does he know that we're going to do this and so he's going to do this or do you just go with whatever your scouting plan has been all the times that you've in a Malgame, all of them to prepare for tonight's game. I, you know, I think for some pictures, there's a little more, you know, give and take approach wise. I think, you know, his, his game is obviously there's not like a lot of secrets within it. There's been some changes in mix just in like which off speed he's using and but, you know, when I got a stone 102 miles an hour,

30:47you know, anytime you're not really ready for that, usually is going to make it pretty challenging. So, yeah. Have you made some plays that Dan's be might not have played while you're playing shortstop here? Like that one like the Superman catch. Yeah, the Superman catch. I don't know if he makes that play. He might be worried about it. Yeah, I don't know. There's definitely been some I've missed that, you know, I've seen him make two. So it goes both ways. I think 22, just even within routine plays, you can have the same exact ball hit by the same hitter to do two different defenders and even if they we would both get that out on a lot of the plays, but it would look pretty differently just based on footwork and whether we prefer back hands or charging the ball or squaring it up or and there's not necessarily a right or wrong within that. But we do have some different style differences for sure. Since I was gone last week. Yeah. Did you guys talk about the Superman catchers? Is this the first time that we're talking about the Superman catch? No, we haven't talked about it yet. Okay. So Nico, when you make that play and I know that we ask you this a lot because you make a lot of great plays. Where does that one rank? Because it was another one of

31:50those things like you had the good read. It was max effort. It was it was as good as any wide receiver in the NFL making a catch. So when you you were pumped like the highlight was crazy. Like you were pumped up. Where does that rank on on some of your favorite plays that you've made? Yeah, not not that high in like difficulty just because all there was was like the catch. Like a lot of times in the impule. It's like a catch and then something and then a throw and then a you know, so that's that was more like a one moment, right? But the feeling of it was great, right? You know, you have a obviously our division opponent and the pack crowd and bases loaded in a close game. And so all those things make for satisfaction in a moment that you know, feel really good. So that was definitely up there as far as just the raw feeling of it. I'm thinking about what you said about how just like the plays look differently a little bit between obviously you and Dan's B. Because because you're just different body types different. Yeah. Some guys glide to the ball. Some guys charge at the ball different footwork like different mentalities of how you go after it.

32:53Because we played that Pat Murphy. Had you heard that Pat Murphy cut from earlier in the week where he says you might be the second best shortstop in the league second best on the team. Maybe but second best in the league. That's pretty cool coming from Pat. No, I hadn't heard that. But that's that's nice. Yeah. No, that was that was really nice. But but yeah, like things things just kind of they they are different. Is there an adjustment for like Michael Bush or for Breggman playing next to you just because of the different ways that you attack a ball here or there? Yeah, I think maybe the differences would be more so with like the double play partner. But since we're that that's kind of a revolving door now too because I've moved Boatr. It's been pretty smooth with Pedro. I like working with him a lot. He's been a you know, it's a whole nother conversation but just really really enjoy playing with him. But I think as a group we're all pretty comfortable together and you know, Greg is so been so good at third base and he's pretty aggressive to his left on some plays that you know, maybe I'd make but are really would be pretty tough plays to my right and the way he's cutting balls off is is pretty impressive. So I feel like we're we're moving pretty

33:56well. I think it's considered we're at a spot in the season where the players play, you know, like the main guys play for the most part of the Michael Bush did get an off day for BJ Murray. The first one a long time. Do you know offhand when your last off day was I'm looking at your game log. I think I see but but I'm trying to DC. In DC. Okay. Hey Cavali was a very good that day. There you go. All right. So that's so that's 22 games. 22 games in a row at the toughest position in the game at the toughest position in the game. And I believe the one before that wasn't was all the way back in game 171 like it might have been 40 in a row before that. Is that sound right in terms of you playing? Yeah. Yeah. I mean, our position player group, you know, I'm personally Dan's who has heard obviously but we've been fortunate with with health and you know, there's their times to give guys a day or two. But when you guys guys in the middle of field like you know, Pete's part of you know, so many things that have been impressive about his

34:56year. But you know, he's he's running around moving more than anybody else in the team and he's not he's not missing any any days at all in his game. Obviously requires about as much, you know, effort and intensity as anybody. So just that consistency playing every day is really impressive. Is it okay if you need a day to to ask Craig at this point in the season or is that frowned upon? And I'll even mean a day off. But maybe it's like can I dh today? How do those conversations even happen? Yeah, yeah, he's he communicates well, you know, I think at this point it would just be you know, I would have to be like on the verge of I would be in a place where like I wasn't healthy. So especially just with the the demand of shortstop right now, it's you know, an important thing to be able to anchor for our group. But yeah, I mean the expectation is to play and no one's doing anything too crazy right now. But yeah, if you're if you're able to that's the expectation for sure. I was at a family pool party on Saturday and it was a hoi. Thank you very much.

And a whole bunch of family who are also listeners who have heard you for the last four years and feel like they know you more than they know most athletes that they've ever cheered for in their lives. And it was like it was in some really cool conversations where I was like, yeah, oh, yeah, that's right. He did say that like or that that's right. It's like and people watching you and kind of cheering for you and sort of a different connected way for them. So I don't know, it's just I don't know if there's a question here, but it's a nice added value that has taken taken hold here after a long relationship with the show and the radio station. Yeah, and that yeah, that means a lot to me too, because you know, I don't don't like post a ton on social media or I feel like I'm generally open with the media and a locker room and stuff, but there's a different level when you sit down and talk for 20 minutes

37:03a week, right? And so I just think it's cool that people actually take the time out of their days to listen and actually retain stuff. And that shows up and it's apparent to me because, you know, you meet fans and people that care a lot all the time. And it's cool when people reference specific things from the show. And thanks a little bit more patience and awareness, like listen, listen to radio and lock it on that instead of just, you know, scrolling through something or having like, quick hits and like most of the things that we take in. So I definitely appreciate extra when people are tuned in. You know what he gets a feel for Lawrence now is the thing where you and I have experience for years where we'll meet somebody to be like, I feel like I know you and we're like, well, you do, you do, they do, they do know you. Yeah. It's two degree. They know you sometimes they need to call you by the wrong name. Like that's a joke that ends up happening. But it's just weird one side of relationship. It is. It's a very intimate medium. And I think you're right about the way that Nico is able to kind of

He was thinking about getting a jersey for Nico. Just the thought man. He was, I believe we got to push harder for that team. You I know, I know, I should go back when you're in the juniors right. So again, that's think about like, you know, us playing the brewers or Cardinals or, you know, that's kind of their version of it in division end of the year. 44:23definitely some good showmanship. Are you watching Phillies results and thinking about Home Field on the daily? It's hard for Cubs fans not to notice. They win one nothing yesterday. You guys lose a heart breaker. Was a tough combo. Yeah, of course. You know, I think playing at at Ridley Field is a huge deal for us. Um, you know, obviously that that series against the Padres last year was, um, you know, one of the highlights of my career. So far, I get into it to experience that not just the win, but to do it at home and, you know, guarantee, you know, the fans have that opportunity after following along and being so closely tied to us all year long. It's a huge deal as well as a competitive advantage. We were planning on talking about PCA later on in the show, but let me pose a question that I threw inside of our doc for the show. Did you ever expect to see PCA competing with Kyle Schwarber for the most home runs in the league? Uh, no, I mean, like, no, no, no, no, no, love to his hit 40 Homer since sweet swinging. So it's,

45:26it's been 55, 55 years, you know, like for ballpark, obviously, been more hitter friendly this year, but it's not a, it's not a lefty Homer's paradise by any means and, um, no, it's, I mean, absolutely no, this is a crazy, crazy development of skills and combination of a lot of incredible things. Um, you know, for him to, for his games, he even have like 15 to 25 home run power is already an incredible, special, incredibly special thing. And then you double and triple that. That's getting into some crazy, crazy territory. They're tracking him now on MLB network. There's a box in the corner of the screen that just has his, his pursuit of 40, 40 on the screen. That's amazing. Yeah, it is. I mean, uh, I don't know what I was getting at a little bit with like the playing every day too, just the level of a, of a tension and, um, obviously it's all things that he's earned and he's in an incredible place, but I think they can also be a pretty

46:27taxing thing in our sport when you're playing every day. And it seems like he's just handled that in a way that's just added fuel to his, his fire, but also his, his focus and tension to detail and consistency. And it's been a really incredible thing to watch. Yeah, actually, last year it felt like he's shelfed on 29 homers for a while. And I don't know if he was chasing it or 30 was in his head or if it was just happenstance or what, but like, it just, he just looks like him every day right now. That in itself is impressive. Yeah, I mean, you're going to have series or stretches that things don't go well, maybe, but, uh, but, but, uh, maybe not for him. Yeah, I know, but it's, uh, like you said, it just seems like it's all kind of on his terms. And there's obviously teams are attacking him and focusing on him and trying to get him out and every possible way. And it just doesn't seem like there's much that's getting him off of what he believes in on the best version of himself over and over again. He's already only the eighth player in MLB history with 40 homers and 35 steals. Crazy.
