We are an action network podcast. I'm Brandon Cravitz, your host joined by the first lady of the pod, Kendra Middleton. Week one, full breakdown. Preview our official plays. We've got five that we've got a log into our Draft Kings contest. I'll tell you more about that in a moment. Dr. David Chow from 6score.com will give us the injury news that we need to know for this week. John Yostremsky from New York, New York, joining the show, Great Friend of the Podcast. We've been pretty coombaiya in the lead up to the season. So we'll see how long that persists Kendra. Yeah, I am surprised so far, but maybe we're just spending too much time together. We'll see how long I feel like we fight like siblings. And I think that that is fine with me. I think it is the flavor and the zest of the podcast, but we're kind of acting like, I feel like the last couple of weeks, it's been like siblings that hadn't seen each other in a while and there's those. No, Mom and Dad told us we're going on vacation. Yeah, yeah. If we behave.
By week four, we're gonna be at each other's throats. An obvious take to get us going, fresh off of Seahawks, Patriots, guitar, anthem, over singing, anthem, 10 times out of 10. 100% not even close. Give me more of that. Maybe I'd actually like the national anthem more. Oh, wow, it's a hot take. All right. The fence is a bad song. It's a bad song. I mean, it's definitely no Canada, but speaking of patriotism, the patriots with the horseshoe still launched firmly up their ass and they couldn't capitalize. If it looked like the patriots were going to win a route, they were up 10, nothing. Sam Darnold had been ruled out. Drew Locke looked really rough around the edges early on in his tenure into that game, but he settled in the Seahawks defense, shut New England down the Patriots or the only team in the NFL in the last 30 years
to throw three interceptions, take three or more sacks, commit three or more penalties and score zero points in a single quarter of any NFL game. That was an absolute meltdown from the New England Patriots when they had the chance on the ropes. Living here last night and being on Patriots Twitter firsthand was a delight. However, I don't know if anybody at home is keeping score. Diana won. Mike Brable zero. Three fourth quarter interceptions is fucking crazy. And I don't want to take away what Josh Job did last night because everybody's harping on what Patrick, or what, sorry, what Drake made it last night, but we should also be celebrating that catch. That was just peak athleticism. It was incredible. And yes, Drake may had a bad night, but that defense for what they had to do went out there and performed. And people should be talking about that way more than we are. It's easy to point to the quarterback. I will say people are melting down up here like Drake may is not the guy and whatever. I think it says more about one,
Josh McDaniel's play calling last night. That was horrendous. And to the fact that sure you can go out there and you can get wide receivers, but at the end of the day, if you're at lines on both sides, can't help you out in any way, shape, or form in big games against teams that you're going to play high caliber like that through the stretch of a season. Sorry, you're a schedule merchant. Yeah, that offensive line that they tried to shuffle around got murdered. Byron Murphy was eating that line for lunch last night. And I said this to you in our pregame show. Well, I have zero issue with us getting beat on the spread, but it is so difficult to get beat by injuries. Having a Sam Darnel pick in him and think, oh, I put my money at a book where they refund you for things like that. I will say, let's take a moment to appreciate draft kings and all that they do to keep people right with the injuries and whatnot. But the AJ Brown injury absolutely killed me last night. I can take a bad beat, but I hate when it's an injury. I would rather you beat me straight up.
Yeah. We we don't know also what the fuck. Well, we took L's across the board. You had a few bets on the on the night. One of them was the C Hawks minus three and a half. I was on that as well. And if we needed another neon sign that said, be wary of the three and the hook on the favorite in the NFL, about 15% of the time in an NFL game, the game's going to land on three. That's, you know, we're talking 15 out of 100 games. That can swing your profitability. And as if I needed another reminder of that as an NFL better, we got it right out of the gate that three and a half should awaited for the three. I regret it. Would have pushed and walked away with nothing, but definitely hurts to take the L in night one. The last thing I'll say, one, patriots in bed jail, two. I'm about to be on a Mac Holland's anytime and three when Travion comes back, Ramondre, you're asked, better be sitting down. Yeah, that offense without AJ Brown and Travion Henderson,
that's, I didn't, we didn't know about AJ Brown until the middle of the game, but it was what I was worried about with Travion Henderson not playing no explosiveness in that offense whatsoever. I would, I also need to bitch about the refereeing. I am sick of those motherfuckers already. I'm sick of it. Like I saw more flags last night than I wanted to see the entirety of the season. I don't care if it was good calls at times. A lot of them were bad calls. I just need less of you. I head up. That game should not have been as long as it was. That fourth quarter felt like it was 37 days of my life. Yeah, yeah. The sea hawks were up against it early on. Every flag was going against them. They had the same darn old injury and the way that they were able to battle back when it felt like everything was working against them. An admirable win for the sea hawks and without their two starting safeties. If you're a sea hawks fan, Nick Lee, I know you're listening. You should feel pretty good about where you're at to start the season. A heads up. We are joining the draft Kings $100,000 NFL season-long
Pickham pool. It's a $50 entry, $20,000 to first place. And Kendra and I plan on taking it. Draft Kings, the crown is yours. Time for this week's injury analysis
with Dr. David Chow joining us from six score.com. Our go to source for injury news, information, projections and pricing. I need a quick read doc on this Sam Darnold situation. We're going to focus primarily on what's in front of us, but this was big really early on into that first game of the season. Sam Darnold goes down with what looked like an ankle injury to me turned out to be a hip injury and he did not return. So what's the outlook based on your perspective? Yeah, I saw a lot on Twitter from Twitter doctors, head shoulders, knees and toes, from ankle, the knee, the PCL. Now it was a hip injury, a hip potential subluxation, the first bad news has already been ruled out, which is a clear fracture. And that's why the CT scan, because X-rays at the stadium are only two-dimensional. CT scan is three-dimensional. And with the hip ball and socket joint, you need three-dimensional. So that's good news. Now in MRI incoming to rule out bone bruise,
microscopic fracture, labelled tear and potential nerve stretch. So there's still more hurdles to come, but at least we've gone from, oh my God, this could be season ending to boy, he'll be seems like he'll be back this year. The question is when and can he even avoid short-term IR? But I think he's gonna miss some time clearly. And what about AJ Brown with the ankle injury? Well, in game, I don't know if you guys are aware, your viewers or listeners, but we do in game injury analysis from my time in the NFL. I look at injuries and real time, we said that's a high ankle sprain, very hard to continue. And now it's been confirmed as a high ankle sprain. Severity will determine how many weeks, but here what I just said, weeks, not days, right? It would be great news if he could avoid a four-week short-term IR. That remains to be seen. Well, bad news for the Patriots, I guess, maybe some unfortunate, but good news for the Jacksonville Jaguars
in a couple of weeks, my Jacksonville Jaguars. I don't wanna skip too far ahead here, but I think the biggest thing that we talked about the last time we had you on was Patrick Maholmtsy, is indeed going to start week one. What can you tell us about his start? Well, he'd be 100% where do you expect him to be? This was an LCL and ACL injury that we said from the war room when it happened in December. This is more complicated than an ACL. It is great news that he is able to play football and he is starting, but there is no physiological way that he is 100%. This is why they were careful. Look, the question is, is it worth playing Patrick Maholmts? They determined that it is. You always want him, but what do they say? You can't win the Super Bowl on week one, but you can lose the Super Bowl on week one. And they're confident enough to let him play with a brace. Look, I think they'll be ball out. They'll have some protection schemes. You're not gonna see a lot of scrambling. They're gonna say, get down, throw the ball away and play with a modified Patrick Maholmts.
Great to see him out there. And I get it 85% of Patrick Maholmts is way better than most of the rest of the league. So I get why they want to play him, but medically there's no way he's 100%. I wanna talk about the Raiders as well. Obviously some injury news coming out about Brock Bower's Aston Gentys, Enkelsbrane has been a huge topic of conversation. What do you think about those two? Well, I don't understand why Brock Bower's had something with his meniscus worked on a day or two before the season's supposed to start. And then we just talked about, you know, high ankle sprains, low ankle sprains. What do you expect from Aston Gentys as well? Much more optimistic on Aston Gentys returning before Brock Bower's returns. I think Aston Gentys is probably just a simple, low ankle sprain. What I've, look, we do something, we follow coach speak very closely. We have a beat on who tells the truth, who lets out what and by reading the coaches and what they say and looking at their press conferences
and then correlating to what reality is. I don't have a beat on Clint Kubiak yet, but an end size of two, he doesn't say much of anything. Now for Aston Gentys, not saying much of anything has led people to believe that it was way worse than what I'm thinking. And Brock Bower's even after the knee scope, he denied there was anything going on. So he's early out of the gate, gonna be someone who just doesn't say anything. And how do you read into that? It depends on the injury. Brock Bower's the concern is, look, this isn't a Ricky Piersau situation where it's PCL reconstruction, but it is a PCL injury. And when the knee shifts some, the PCL, you can tear your meniscus. This is a trim, not a repair. This is not a Max Crosby repair, longer-witch recovery. This is a trim. So I think he can avoid short-term IR. He's gonna miss some time, but hopefully he'll be back ahead of the fifth week,
which would keep him off of injured reserve. Malik neighbors looks to be giving it a go on Sunday night football for the New York Giants. We didn't really see a lot of him throughout training camp in the preseason. Would you be surprised if he had a full snap allotment? Yes, we've faded him all this season off season at SickPix.com, under this that the other seasonally. Look, he had a second surgery. He looked at hot mess this off season. The second surgery has accelerated his recovery. So that's great news, but he's a speed wide receiver that relies on cuts. He's not a big-bodied wide receiver positionally, right? And so those guys get affected more by this. So not thinking he's going to do a lot. And we do have injury rankings and projections. And I don't have the number top, but he's probably like minus 27% out of the gate on projections for DFS or fantasy.
Last question from me. I just wanna know your thoughts on Daniel Jones coming back from me at Killy is. I don't know how a 29 year old is 100% that quickly from a torn at Killy's, but I know that the technology has changed in the last couple of years and the recovery and everything like that. So what are your expectations for him ahead of week one? Well, I'm more amazed that George Kittle can play tight end than Daniel Jones played quarterback. You have to understand that Philip Rivers, my good friend, is was way less mobile than Daniel Jones and did a serviceable job at quarterback when he tore his Achilles. So that's part of the equation, the position that he plays. Is he 100% probably not, can he play the position of quarterback effectively? Yes, I believe he will be fine for week one and for the season. The Killy shouldn't be much of an excuse. Yes, he runs some, but you know, and that may happen a little bit if it was a scapeability and running ability, but from the pocket, I think he should be fully effective. Let's talk about Jonathan Brooks,
a guy that has a very, very rich injury history. He was drafted out of Texas and dealt with injuries coming into the NFL and then when he was trying to make his way back last year, what are his chances of re-injury? I've seen a lot of that fantasy optimism surrounding Jonathan Brooks, but this is a guy that's had a lot of trouble staying on the field for the Panthers. Well, he had a re-terrem as ACL and not sure the circumstances of his first ACL, but ACLs fixed appropriately can do well as long as you don't have cartilage damage. So I am one of those guys and I might be one of those guys that may have spurred on the fantasy optimism. Of Jonathan Brooks, looking at it from a medical perspective. And remember now, this is his second year out, second year back, admittedly from a second ACL, not his first year back. Remember what happened to Sequon? His first year back from his first ACL. He didn't do much and everyone hated him
for fantasy and everything else. And I was the first, let me have him the second year back and he had a big year his second year back. So let's wrap with this is we're gonna send some people to sixscore.com. I've been using this site for the last couple of years. It's one of the reasons I was so excited to bring you on to this podcast because I think it helps a lot in trying to form a number out of the injuries that impact these teams, not just for the guys that are missing because I think that part is easier, but for guys that are hurt that are playing through injury and you price all of that in. If you go to your game views, you have a sick edge that favors one team or the other based on injury. Can you just explain the process of how you distill down to that number and how a sports better should use that in their handicap. I love coming on your show regularly to be able to talk about this because your audience is educated and we are perfect for an educated audience.
Look, everyone knows when a quarterback is injured in the line moves, but do you really know what's happening on the Carolina Panthers and their offensive line, for example, and the shuffle and the injuries that are going on there? We distill that down, not only injuries, but the line movement shuffle and we literally not only grade every player and every team, we grade every offense and every defense. We have matchups of this week's Miami Dolphins offense against the Las Vegas Raiders defense. We have Miami Dolphins O-line score against the run and the pass against a D-line score or a defensive score against the run in the pass for the Raiders. And we put that together. I do the injury scoring with our team and then we put it in an algorithm and algorithm that norve Turner and others help us put together to spit out numbers of value in terms of ranking. So really we're that finite in terms of what's happening
and for fantasy DFS world, it's also the opponent, right? Look, you need to know if you want a wide receiver, you need to know the health of your offensive line against the pass, the health of your quarterback and also the health of the secondary that you're facing, right? Those, that's what we have. For the lazy people, we have sick picks and whatever and stiff-hezic, but your crowd is not the lazy crowd. I think your crowd would like the data portion, the field views, offense against defense and do your own deep dive analysis at sixscore.com. Agree with that wholeheartedly. For more from the pro football doc, Dr. David Chow and his expert injury insights team and player health ratings and projections, check out sick data only available on sixscore.com, the go to source for the most accurate injury analysis in the national football league. You, as our listeners, can use the code action for free week of sick data that's code action at sixscore.com.

You can find John on New York, New York, via underscore media, a busy man had a post game show last night. John, we're going to need you to settle some disputes here as we go game by game. And you're going to nominate one of our five picks that we're throwing in the draft King's contest this week.
How are you doing, my friend? Gang fantastic. We're running on fuel, running on adrenaline. I think I'm still sweating through my suit from last night, but it's week one. And I lose my first bet of the year. So we're up to a high five star. Let's go. I like to get rid of the elves out of the gate, you know, and build to win. So we were both on Seattle. All three of us were on Seattle minus three and a half. So we'll take the L and we will move on. Let's start with the Saints and the Lions. Lions laying seven points here, total sitting at 49 and a half. It's America's favorite team. The Lions have become the darling of NFL fans against America's favorite sleeper. Everyone seems to be in on the surprise year of the Saints this season. Lions off a disappointing season last year. They finished last place in the division. New offensive coordinator for them. They reshuffle the O line. Penetriule is sliding from right to left. Dan Campbell, by the way, 14 and 4 ATS in September.
I find myself a little bit stuck in the middle here, Kendra. What's your initial read on this game? I also find myself in the middle here. I want to believe in Tyler Schuck, but I think for the first few weeks of the season until I'm really bought into the Saints team, I need to see what he can show me. Just because he was one of these guys didn't start a season last year, but had some really serious momentum towards the end of it. I also think that they retooled good things for him in the off season, but I need a couple of weeks of proof it before I can get on such a high number. Garner, are you willing to lay it with the Lions? Are you buying into that early season, Saints with some value as everybody's sexy sleeper team? Okay, gang. So these are two teams that I have futures on. I have the Saints to go and win the NFC South. I bet the Lions over for wins because of the schedule. I think it's very conducive to going and win double digit games. As far as this week one matchup, Kendra, let's get on the Tyler Schuck bandwagon. I love what I saw over the final eight weeks of last year.
I didn't kill him or can coach the Saints defense played much better as the season went along. Here's my thing about this game. It's not going to be one of my five, but the reason I lean towards New Orleans. You guys know there are obvious teams candidates that people are going to rush to the betting window and say, hey, I get the Lions down to pick them. There's another game we're going to get to. Oh, I get this team down to pick them. Seems a little too easy. Seems a little too good to be true. And despite all of the prowess and firepower that the Lion Offense is bringing on the table, Geng, I got serious questions about that defense. I think you're going to be able to move the ball on that defense. So I expect this game to be high scoring. I think there is serious back door potential. Not one of my favorite games in a week, but if I'm playing it, I'm going to give you guys the point for every game. That's what we do around here. I would take the Saints plus the points. To me, it would be Saint Sir Pass. I'm too bought in on the hype to lay seven with Detroit,
even with the injury to Cam Jordan. I think they're live to pull off the upset as well. Are we wanting to put this into our five? So we have already locked in the 49ers plus three and a half. That's one. We've got five to throw into the Draft King's contests. And the Cardinals will get to them plus 10 and a half. No doubt, we already know we love the Redbirds on this show. So we've got three. We've got to be pretty selective. Rolling on game number one. Are we willing to throw the Saints in? They are seven and a half in the contest, which does make this a little more appealing that we get the hook as well. Kendra. I don't think I can get there. I'd love to. If this were in New Orleans, I would be all over it, but home opener for Detroit can't get there. I just did it. I love the two picks you guys have made right out of the gate. I'm team Niner Gang. Believe it or not, this knuckle had picked the Niners in his preseason picks a few days ago to win the Super Bowl. Cause like giving out chalk is no fun. I went with a John Candy Niners over Bangal Super Bowl.
So we'll get to the ball that was themed later. But I like what you guys are at immediately here. This is good. It's very good. All right. We got full consensus. Everybody's come by to start the year. It's a mid-night matter that worked. For now. The Jags laying eight and a half against the Cleveland Browns total sitting at 40 and a half. New year, new coach for the Brownies, Todd Monkins debut game here against the team that won 13 games last season. Seven and two straight up at home. Best record against the spread last year. Hour cats, Kendra's Jaguars, Travis Hunter back on the field. Nothing not to like about the Jacksonville Jaguars. I'd be willing to throw the Jaguars into the contest and we get them at seven and a half in contest play. Line moving in the direction of Jacksonville. Can you talk me off of your team, Kendra? No, I can't. This was going to be one of my nominations. We talked about this slightly at the end of the show the other day. I get that week one is weird. But the Cleveland Browns are weirder and the fact that it's at home.
I've never seen a crowd that hates anybody as much as the Jacksonville Jaguars. Hate to Sean Watson. They started. I don't think we can talk about it on this show even though we are a rather PG-13. Our rated friendly show. But look up at some of the chance at the Jacksonville Jaguars versus Browns. Home game in Jacksonville last time if you would like a preview. I think just the fact that he's complaining about people hating him already in the season. It's going to be real bad real quick. I get that I'm all over the Browns this season, but I expect Liam Cohen to run it up. This is where I get to be the bad guy. Sorry guys. I can't get there. I can't get there. Listen, I know Kendra. I'm taking sides against the family here and taking Cleveland in this spot. Here's my problem. Every preseason narrative is looking at Cleveland. The Sean Watson, toxic, Todd Monkin, Coolis. I actually think there's talent on this Cleveland team. And I have games every week.
And I think you guys will learn this as we go forward. There are lines that stink at a high heavens. This is one of my right lines at a week. I think this line absolutely stinks because everything about... Do you get one veto? Is this your one veto? Everybody gets a veto here. So right now Jack's minus seven and a half is in. If Kendra and I agree, it's in the movie. No, I can't do that right now. No, no, if you guys do, I can't veto game two right out of the gate here. I can't do it now. Listen, no, no. I have a play to give out that we can agree on. I do personally have logged in the app the over in this game at 40 and a half. You talk about disgusting it over in this game with the Sean Watson operating offence with the rookie right white receivers. Because he'll cough it up, but they can run the ball. And Jacksonville will run it up and see. It grows over. I actually kind of like it. I kind of like it to Kendra's point where if you have a couple of short fields, then all of a sudden a game that looks really icky and really gross. Oh my goodness, how did this team end up with 27 points?
That's kind of how you get there. But I am not using my veto power because I feel like I might need it a little bit later on in this segment, but just so everybody is clear, John's is stressed. You will not be betting the Jaguars on Sunday. So trends guy, Evan Abrams, Evan, you also get a veto if you want to pop in at any point and just strike down any of these picks. I feel like if there's one that you put the tie-bosh on, it would be a heavy favorite in week one. Are you willing to before we move on? I just want to make sure that we're all good. I'll cope ascetic on the Jags minus seven and a half. I think if we have one that we agree on all together that's better, I would listen, but right now this is that third slot for me. I don't have an issue with this one because I don't necessarily love either side in this game and I hate to be that guy, but it's more or less like if I'm going to pick a big favorite, I could see Jacksonville covering in this one because of the Watson factor and I have no interest in Cleveland, especially with like a new coach in Munkin, I kind of want to wait and see.
My question was going to be a little different. The over in this game or the over in the Raiders game, I think are both just interesting. Oh, I think that's a number. Evan, I think that's an easy call over the Miami Raider game. I kind of agree that you know, anybody on the Miami Dolphin defense and I know Brock Bauer's is not playing. So my change to calculus and the dolphins in theory should be able to score on Vegas. I will, dude, I love the over that game. One of my best bet the under. Well, Kenja, we're fighting already. Geez. Back to programming. All right, let's not sick. Let's not skip ahead. Oh my God. Just again, too. There's Panthers, Panthers plus three at home total at 47 and a half. Both teams made it to the postseason last year. Both won their divisions. One was sub 500 and doing so, but Caleb Williams, the all hype squad, the Madden cover boy this year, his third season in the NFL. Second in Ben Johnson's offense, the defense is the question mark with that team.
Their bottom five unit coming back from last year, Kendra, the Panthers were our squad last season. No team made us more money than the Carolina Panthers. So I might have to be talked off of them catching a field goal at home. Now, I don't want anything to do with this. I feel like the Panthers had their luck last year. Might have been a lightning in a bottle situation, bad division, but with a happy Baker and things looking up in New Orleans. I don't want anything to do with this team this year. Oh, that's fine, Kendra, but like for week one, I kind of do the bears in a most public side of the week. Isn't that like an auto play on the Panthers? And listen, I know the hype train is off the shorts for Caleb Williams and for Ben Johnson. And I get it and I understand it. The Bears defense stinks. Like Carolina should be able to move the ball and have offensive success. Now, if we were getting three in the hook here, I'd be pounding the table for Carolina. This is another one of these Ikeewans. To me, this is a Carolina or a pass type of spot, which also is important.
An important note because in the contest, there are no flatlines. So it's three right now on draft Kings, but it's two and a half in the contest. That's not something that I just I also cannot be. I cannot be in on a team where their left tackle is out in their running back rooms already decimated. I don't care if the defense is good. I don't want anything to do with this. All right. So it's a handway from Kendra. Okay. That's fine. Yeah. They're there are the place. They're other place. I thought maybe we'd go like one more time for the road. Pour one out for the Panthers who are definitely not to be as profitable this year. But angels were usingizing those kiddies. Sorry. Home dogs. You're going to cheeseburger home dogs in week one. Evan before we move on completely. That's absolutely guy. Damn nothing. Did this only the other one? It's actually just completely even. So it's flat. It's like. Almost five years. There's not much of an advantage there at home dogs in week one. Interesting. Something that's simple. It isn't. I mean, there's other trends. This isn't that, but it's not home dogs. And I like divisional home dog is really where you want to look.
We'll get to that with Sunday. Yeah. Oh, okay. Okay. Let's go to Pittsburgh where the Steelers are laying three and a half against the Atlanta Falcons. I know what you're about to do to me. I know that it feels like the last five months has been this feeling of like building towards me trying to convince you to take the Falcons against the spread in week one. I actually hate them this week. And this is a team I have been buying stock in on for the last couple of months. The NFC South is not a good division. So why not take the long shot? I still feel that way. But early in the season is not where I want to fade the Pittsburgh Steelers. Mike McCarthy, Aaron Rogers, there is some familiarity there. You've got to a who has not done anything right so far in the off season, trying to learn a new offense going up against a defense that at least early in the season, they're old, but it's week one. Everybody's fresh. I don't want to fade the Steelers yet.
So I'm actually not going to nominate the Atlanta Falcons, which may come as a surprise to any of our. Well, thank goodness. Because my veto was coming into play. Crabby, if you threw the Falcons in there, I was that was not happening. I also have the other in this game because everybody's incompetent. I get that the Steelers have a good defense, which helps my argument here, but like the incompetence from the top down on both sides. I don't know. There's no way. Aaron Rogers, this is not my nominee, but I love the Steelers in this spot, guys. Okay. Come on. The last time we saw two a quarter back, and I know the temperature is going to be a little different in Pittsburgh, comes September than what it was in December, but it was interceptions. It was ducks. It was a quarterback who couldn't escape a pass rush. And I think you get like that feel good story, McCartney, the hometown boy, week one in Pittsburgh. Aaron Rogers body isn't decaying yet. To me, the Steelers, not, I mean, it is and it's not.
You know what I mean? It will be worse by November, December. I love the Steelers. I'd like it. I wouldn't even think twice. All I can think of is that image of Aaron Rogers running out onto the field with the American flag on his show. Is Joey Porter Jr. going to play? I'm not seeing it. I don't think we know yet. I don't think so. I don't think it matters because a quarterback has to be able to get Drake one than the football, and I'm not convinced that he came. So I just, I move before seeing. I'm the under with me. Kendra, what is it? 41 42 and a half. The only question I have about the under is the compromised state of the Atlanta pass rush, because they had some big injuries in training camp and how that's necessarily going to play a role. Remember, the Steelers weirdly in week one, if you want to go back to the jets and the Steelers, which was a very wonky week one game a year ago, that was a game in which the Steeler defense gave up a zillion points to Justin Fields. They didn't cover and Boswell hit like a 60-submigrant field goal in the game, but Andrew Rogers was great.
That's that's my only like pause and hesitation. He's just so old. I don't even care. Like he's going to get hit one time and knock it back up one of these, one of these days. It's going to, and his AI wife is going to have to be revealed. Let's just hope it's not week one because I'm betting the Steelers. All right. I think Atlanta's only chance to be consistent offensively early on is to get B John going and doing that against the Steelers, a fresh Steelers defense at home. I just think it's going to be tough sledding for him. It would be Steelers under or nothing, and it's probably going to be nothing for me under for Kendra. Easy to move on past that one. Ravens, Colts, Colts catching three and a half at home total at 47 and a half. Jesse Mintor making his debut with the Baltimore Ravens. We'll get our first look at that Declan Doyle offense as well. Lamar Jackson seems revitalized now that he's not under the thumb of John Harball. And the opponent is a fascinating one. Nobody was more Jekyll and Hyde last year than the Colts eaten to it. The start, oh, and seven at the finish.
Lamar loves the turf. Lamar is great early on in the season. I want to be on the Colts every number I project says take the Colts. I have such a hard time fading Lamar Jackson and the Ravens early on in the season, even with a new coach. This is a really tough one for me. Kendra, you're nodding along. It looks like you're ready to make an nomination. This is this is my nomination. I the Colts were lightning in a bottle last year. I really think that they're going to be the worst team in this division this year. I think that that is probably a hot take for some. I think the Titans are going to make some moves. I have doubts in Daniel Jones at 100% let alone coming off of an injury, especially because he's a sneaky mobile quarterback. That's how he can beat teams at times. Do we outside of Jonathan Taylor and Tyler Warren believe in this offense? I personally don't. And Lamar has a lot to prove he's great in the beginning of the season. Zay flowers also on a prove at moment. So it has to start here for them. Got to whip up on teams like this. John, I have no prompt with this pick because Lamar has been really good at the beginning of these years.
Like I can think of multiple years in Lamar Jackson's career where he's just absolutely lit it up in the first game of the season. And to me, there's just too much unknown with the Colts because you guys kind of hit at it. They were a offensive juggernaut over the first 10 weeks of the year. Daniel Jones was come back player of the year. Jonathan Taylor was a beast that had Warren going, it had Pierce going, it had all Michael Pippman, who's now in Pittsburgh going. And then Jones gets hurt and the team completely falls apart. I think it might take Daniel Jones some time to get back into rhythm. And then you know, Jesse Miner knows defense. All of a sudden Declan Doyle is thrown in some wrinkles that nobody has seen before. I actually think there'll be points in this game. So I kind of like an over here with the Ravens and the Colts, but I'm not talking you off the Ravens catcher. I totally get it. I got a Vito. Wow. I have one more than ever. One more in the chamber.
Your Vito is out of the way. So I have one more in the chamber. Wow. Vito. Okay. Evan, the trends as far as Daniel Jones on turf, Shane Stuykin at home, it feels like a pretty precarious position to fade a team that has been a good cover when they're healthy, especially at home early on in the season. And you're in its three in the hook. I mean, if the first game Seattle in New England didn't teach us anything, if it did teach us anything, it's that that hook matters a ton. It does. There's just lots of stuff both ways here. I mean, you mentioned the indoor stuff, the turf. It's also which Colts team you're kind of getting. And also Colts have been abysmal in weak ones in history, which I don't know, says whatever about this team in this current roster. I think it's mostly about Daniel Jones's health. If anything, I think JJ's calling the over. There's a lot of things pointing under, but I feel like 47 and a half down two
points from the open 149 and a half. I just feel like there's an opportunity here indoors for some points. I'm even thinking based on Kendra's thoughts, like team total over for Baltimore. Maybe. Yep. And Lamar 36 and a half on the rushing yards. If you like them on the turf, that could be a good way to look as well. Let's go to the bucks and the bangles, bangles minus three and a half total sitting at 50 and a half. This could be a firework show between two of the better quarterbacks in the NFL. We know Todd Bolz is throwing those exotic blitzes at burrow, but burrow super power is handling the blitz. Now the offensive line has, you know, always been a little bit shaky, but burrow reads a defense with the best of them. This is a tough one. It would be over would be a lot of fun. I kind of like the idea of just taking passing yard overs on these quarterbacks. If you want to get in on the fantasy side of the action of this game, but Kendra, where are you on this one? I'm not nominating either of these. Now I don't want, I don't want to nominate this either. This wasn't the one I had in waiting. I just, I get the Baker Mayfield is deserving of the contract that he got.
I think he actually gave them a little bit of a deal, but I don't know a version of him. We have there are moments where he looks like the best version of himself. And when he's bad, he's bad. And it feels like when he's bad, it's for an entirety of a game or at least more than a quarter or two. And so I'm just not ready to marry myself to Baker Mayfield in a week one, especially when I think that this is such an important game for the bangles. If they're going to get it's going to be a tough division. They need everyone they can get the AFC is going to be tough. I believe in Joe Burrow, but once again, the offensive line, like you mentioned, is a question. Can they keep him upright long enough to let him do his thing this year? I don't want anything to do with this game. The over is probably the only place I'd look, but I'm out. The over's gotten a little too juice for my liking. I like Cincinnati here. I don't trust Tampa's defense. They were awful, bad and stretch. I know people are going to point to injuries. There are a lot of warning signs losing veteran leaders. My question is about the head coach. I am not in on this fucking year team going into the year. I am in on Cincinnati. Bangles have passed. Can I say something?
I think the Baker not to like get on the Liam Cohen like train here, but I think not having him last year really hurt Baker. And I'm wondering if that's going to continue. And their offensive line was all banged up. So when you when you add on the fact that the one of the better offensive lines is not healthy, I'm one of the best offensive play callers left the room. It's not a surprise that the blocks fell off. There is this is one of those games where something has to give because the bangles don't cover early on in the season with borough and Zach Taylor. But the buck and ears have failed to cover nine straight games dating back to last season. So somebody has shorted back Taylor's leash also a question. Pretty cheap. So they'll keep them for the year. But yes, if he doesn't want to, he should have fired. But they're cheap so they won't fire him. One of the cheapest franchises out there. Let's go bills Texans Texans point and a half dogs total sitting at 44 and a half. This is the game of the weekend to me. We are going to be mark my words.
Whoever wins this game will catch so much hype from the media after the next week. It will yes, it will be nauseating. Whoever comes out on top will be the darling of the media moving forward. It's Josh Allen against the league's top defense. Official nomination for me. I love the Houston Texans plus one and a half. I'm fading joke Brady in his debut game. Come on. This defense at home as dogs all over Evan. And I had this one in May. Like he pooped his pants walking into the facility. Kendra, they won last year with Davis Mills as a quarterback. I was also going to make this my nominee. So well done, Krabby. You stole it from me. Kendra, come on. Texans are winning this game. Their defense unbelievable and look at Josh Allen's history. Playing in this building going all the way back to his second year when he lost the playoff game that the strong Watson. I love the Texans best defense in the league. All about that action. They win the game outright.
I don't even need the points. Be around Kendra. Don't do it. Don't do it. Kendra. If this were a week 10 game, I would be all over the bills here. I want to use this as a veto. But there's one other game I'm worried that you two shit heads are going to be in on. Oh boy. All right. Then is it does that mean that it's in nominee in? It's got to be right. Come on. I've been wanting to put. I've been wanting to put this in since May. So I already bet it. So I mean, you guys are pissing me off and making me want to be to a because you're arguing. Don't crush my dreams Kendra. You own me one. It's in. Yes. Let's go. All right. I already have to listen to my final nominee though because we're getting close. Okay. All right. All right. We got to keep it moving. We're up against the clock here. Let's go to the jets. We don't need to talk about this. I've the under. Okay. I know I came on your pod doing the AFCs destroying the jets.
Now I've talked myself into betting the jet. It's not my nominee, but it's jets of past. The Titans are terrible. And I give you guys the Titans are good. The best way to bet this game. This is so easy guys. It's rendered right under our nose and it's even money on draft kings. Ham Ward to throw an interception. New office. I have one old last year crab. That's the point. This is this should be like minus 140. You two should kiss. Let's do it. You watch agreement. There we go. Ham Ward, I and T even money. All right. Moving on. Let's go to the four o'clock window. Commanders at Eagles. Eagles laying five and a half. It's four and a half in contest. So I can be talked into Philadelphia. The commanders were the regression kings last year. NFC title participant the year prior five win team last year. Curious to see how they bounce back from that. Divisional game week one. I think a lot of people are going to want to be on the dog here, but I love Philadelphia.
I like that. Jalen hurts doesn't have to worry about AJ Brown anymore. They can have a little more variety on offense. So I'd be failure. Nothing, but I have a like gut tells me this one doesn't end up in our contest. Kendra. Now this number is a little too sharp for me. I think Dan Quinn's going to turn back into a pumpkin. There's obviously distractions around Jaden Daniels and there's going to continue to be kind of in this early stretch of the season. But I don't believe in either of these sides. I just I need to I need to see some more before I can bet on either of them. I'm worried about both of them through the season. I'm still on the Cowboys for the division, but gross number, gross number. Geng, I kind of like Washington. They always play Philly tough. You're talking about a divisional game. I'm getting four and a half points and I don't trust the Eagle offense. It's not my nominee, but it's Washington. It passed on me. I feel like this little stinky with the Eagles. Evan, are we missing anything here? I mean, this is a pretty this is a pretty fat number on a divisional underdog in week one that were.
It is, but the expectations on Washington are kind of like a median between the chaos from last year and the stuff the year before that. If you look at the markets, though, everyone kind of likes Philly in this game. There isn't a lot of things on the public side from Washington standpoint. So people are kind of just rolling with the Eagles in this one. So I don't mind JJ's look at the four and a half, but it feels it feels like Philly should take care of this one in like a seven point win. So I think the Eagles are sneaky good survivor pick this week. Jalen hurts 32 and seven straight up as a home favorite with the Eagles, according to the Prima. And he wins week one too. I feel like he's won a bunch of weak ones. Yeah, this should be this should be an Eagle Eagles money line. Parley, if that's your flavor, I wouldn't mind throwing them in there. Let's go to the Cardinals and the chargers. This can be quick because we already know that we love this one. This was the first one that made it to the contest for Kendra and I. So a lot of consensus here.
The Cardinals breaking in a new coach and Mike LaFour, but the chargers are breaking in a whole new offense. I like the idea of fading these teams, not blindly, but this is something I look to fade. If you're trying to break in a new offense with the same pieces from last year, it's a lot to learn early on in the season. John, no one's playing in the preseason these days. No doubt. And it's way too many points. And because it's going to be the consensus survivor pick, there's just no way in the world this is going to be easy. Only pushback. Horbos has been really, really good in week one, really, really good going back to his Niners days and now with the Los Angeles chargers. But no argument for me lines moving in our favor. Arizona will find a way to cover the number. Yep. And it's 10 and a half in the contest. It's done to nine and a half now across most books. So yeah, easy one for us. A layup week one divisional or a week one double digit favorites, seven and 14 against the spread since 2000. That is a bet against the chargers.
Our dolphins, John catching three against the Las Vegas Raiders. It's Malik Willis versus Kurt Cousins NFL ratings gold here. Two head coaches making their debut Jeff Hathley, Clint Cubiak. I could have been talked into the Raiders, not with the current injury situation. Brock Bowers out as Gen. T not 100%. I want to nominate the Miami dolphins plus three and a half. Oh, you sick man. You sick man. I think it's the right side in the game. I have, I'm not a cook cousins guy at this stage in his career. The only problem is do you sure you want to be in on that Miami dolphin defense? That's my problem. It's it's it is a horrifying defense. You can't name one player in a secondary. Can't do it. No, I can't. I follow the team and I couldn't if I tried to, to me, it's a numbers play. I mean, it's just you're talking about a team in the Raiders that still kind of needs
to get to know one another. They should not be laying this team. I believe in them season long, laying three and a half when you're without the, the guy that you're building this new offense around Clint Kubiak is the guy that took Jackson, Smith and Jigba to the next level. Brock Bowers is going to be that chess piece in the offense and you don't have them. Michael Mayer is a huge drop off in terms of talent. I think he's, I think Bowers is worth nearly a point to the spread. And the number doesn't reflect that. And our number in contest reflects nothing of Bowers not being on the field. So to me, it's a numbers play more than anything else. I like the Miami Dolphins plus three and a half. I'm vetoing you. The Raiders defense is too good for that offense. There's no way I am sorry. You're not going to get me to believe in Malibu Willis. I just, I've seen everything that I needed to see. I know I will say I'm higher on Michael Mayer than you guys though. I do have the under in this game, but I'm also in on an anytime touchdown for him plus 280. I think he's way better than you guys are giving him credit for, especially it's a red zone threat.
I get a problem with Michael Mayer. Hold on a second. I didn't throw any slander his way. I just think my am is the right side of the game. I don't trust cousins. That's, that's my point. I had a feeling that was that was that the veto that you were saving because you knew I was going to do that. Yeah. I didn't, you know, I was going to be banging the table for the dolphins. Come on, Kendra. You should know plan wasn't to come in and be the, the homer of the podcast. But I already beat you to it with the jugs. Packers Vikings Vikings laying a point and a half total sitting at 46 and a half. I still have nightmares of betting against the Packers and week one last year. No team was more impressive out of the gate than Green Bay, but this is probably going to be a different look. No, Micah Parsons big problem for Green Bay. They were only five without him down the stretch. If you include the playoffs outscored 144 to 96 in those games. It is Vikings or nothing for me. And the money seems to be moving in that direction as well. Kendra, does this feel to anybody else like these two are going to coach their ass off and their quarterbacks
are just not going to be able to do fucking anything. And it's going to be a mid off with coaches just stalking up and down the sidelines, pissed off because the Packers are so injured and Kyler Murray is little. Well, I know, I don't like being involved in the Kyler Murray experience. He has absolutely destroyed me futures wise each of the last two years, but you know what I'm about to do guys. I'm betting the Vikings in week one. I think their depth as a roster may be compromised over the course of the year, but they're healthy going in in this matchup. Brian Forrest, I think Forrest's a couple of turnovers with his defense on Jordan Love. And I think this is a big revitalization game for Justin Jefferson, where people watch week one. They're like, oh, yeah, I forgot how good that guy is because he actually has someone who can get him in the football. The market is moving with us. It is not my nominee, but if anybody wants to throw it in their police, let's get it on the Vikings. All right. So that's not ending up in the context. I contest. I do think this game will be close. I think I already played the Vikings as a teaser leg and then the line flipped.
And I went the other way with it. So I am pot committed to this game being decided by seven points or less on either side. That's, that's what I need to happen. Just think if you wanted to sweat with me throughout this, I don't really care who wins. But I like to do like the Viking side. If I was to bet one side, I'd be on the Vikings. Let's finish off with the Cowboys and the Giants Giants plus three in this one. Total sitting at 48 and a half Sunday night football. This should be a good one. John Harball makes his debut with the Giants is their head coach Jackson Dart attempting to learn a new offense under Matt Nagy and the Cowboys roll in his road favorites with the top flight offense, rebuilt defense. What are we thinking, Kendra? This still isn't my nomination. We're going to have to not preview Monday, but we're going to have to mention it. I would love to be on the Giants here, but I, the more that I sit here and look through this Cowboys roster, the higher I am on the Cowboys, I hate to say it. Good for Gifford.
I think this team is going to be so good this year. I think the Giants are going to need a couple of weeks to kind of find their footing. And I'm probably going to have a higher upside the second half of the season. I think the Cowboys, if anything, but no play from me here. Brilliant analysis, Kendra. Can I drop it? How about them Cowboys? I love the Cowboys guys. I can't get enough of this game. I can't get enough. That's your nomination. There's worse options for me here. That's my nomination. Is this it? Are we in on the Cowboys? Yeah. I'm varying on the Cowboys this year. They only here. I think we all like the Cowboys this season, but we're in on the Cowboys. Owned on the Giants for the better part of a decade. It can't you brought up the idea that Jackson Dard is learning a new offense. I think there is a transition there. Neighbors coming back off the injury, scatter, who coming back off the injury. Did I mention that the Giants have major questions as far as their ability to stop the run? And I don't trust their corners. Who's guarding CDLM? Who's guarding George Pickens?
I think that let's got a top five offense. I think they're defense with Quinn and one. Four year Caleb Downs. They make a statement in week one. Cowboys don't think twice about it. We are laying the three. I don't care if it's a divisional road dog. Cowboys. Cowboys. Cowboys. Let's go. Oh, what a fun way to wrap up our Sunday to have the Cowboys in the contest. And to make it even better, it's minus two and a half in the contest with the line moving towards that three. So I am with it. Let's do it. Last but not least, boys, my final nomination is going to be the Denver Broncos at Arrowhead on Monday night football. I party so hard with the Broncos in this spot. Crabbits, you already got you can't say anything about it. I love the Broncos here. Their defense Patrick Mahomes is not going to be fully healthy. They're old. That defense can shut down those receivers. Get out of here. Easy choice, Denver Broncos. I'm with it. I don't have a problem with it. Kendra.
I got to see it. I'm going to teach you a piece of my homes. Got to see it. I picked them to miss the playoffs for what it's worth. He's Russian backman. He's Russian back to click. I'm with you. OK. I would I would not veto this. I would be on the Broncos as well. The problem is is if my math is right, we're already at five. That's the problem. We have the Texans. We have the cowboys. Cardinals Texans. Cowboys Broncos. Jaguars. We said if there wasn't one that we liked better. I mentioned my veto on that. There you go. I didn't use my veto. That would be my veto. Dog. OK. OK. We like the Cardinals plus 10 and a half going to LA to take on the chargers. Broncos plus two and a half on Monday night against the Kansas City Chiefs Texans plus one and a half with that wanted defense against Josh Allen and the bills at home and the J J special, the Dallas Cowboys laying two and a half on the road against the New York football giants. Why should you place these bets at draft Kings because all draft King customers are getting a profit boost every game day in the 1th of September. And that is why the crown is yours.
