WARNING: AI SLOP BELOW!
When a teenager is disrespectful while asking for privileges like electronics, she is often attempting to seize power through chaos rather than seeking a mature dialogue. To break this dynamic, you must remain the calm, unshakable adult in the room, refusing to be reactive or to compete with her for power.
An electronics privilege is like a set of car keys. You do not hand the keys to a driver who is currently shouting at you or refusing to acknowledge the rules of the road. By withholding the “keys” until she can communicate safely and respectfully, you aren’t being mean—you are ensuring she is capable of handling the power that comes with the privilege.
