Strangely enough, I remember exactly where I was at when Vin, athletic director Tom Osborne, made a statement that really hit me hard. There is one thing that unites the 93 counties of Nebraska. Clearly, he was talking about football. Turns out he was wrong. Not often, but he's wrong this time. Natural disasters also unite the 93 counties. Yesterday, I brought to you the information about the fires that continue to burn across the state of Nebraska. There are multiple fires taking place. Three of great significance, which total 600,000 acres at this moment. The largest being what is called the moral fire, which now is in excess of 460,000 acres,

1:01the Halsey Fire, 100,000 acres, and what is called the Maxwell Brady or Gothenburg Fire, which is 40,000 acres plus. There's still fires, Burnham, burning south and Lincoln County around Farnham, Eustace, and the endeavors that continue to be put forth by men and women is absolutely incredible. It's really a tough day for me to be honest. I've talked to everybody I know. I've asked, can it come help? Can I do this? And you can't just go fight the fire because they literally won't let you. You literally have to be trained as a volunteer firefighter. You can be support. You can be support through prayer. But most importantly, we need to have recognition. And when this gets done, when it gets fixed, there will be time for a lot of support, need, and tools and resources to help those in peril.
