Nationals Rally Late, Beat Mets 3-1

The Washington Nationals pulled off a late rally to beat the New York Mets 3-1 in Spring Training Action. Trailing one to nothing into the eighth, they scored three runs in the final two innings, capped by Joey Wilmer's two run homer in the bottom of the 9th. That victory boosts their record to 14 wins, nine losses and three ties. Cade Cavali delivered a strong star for Washington, tossing five scoreless innings while allowing just three hits. He wraps up Spring with 14 innings pitched, only four hits and no runs. The bullpen backed him up perfectly, with relievers like PJ, pull in striking out the side in his inning and others keeping the Mets off the board until late. The Nationals hitter struggled early against Mets' starter, Jawander Suarez, managing just one hit in four innings. And Assim Nunez stood out, going one for two with a walk, and he's leading the team with ten free passes this spring to lift his on-base percentage.

1:02Prospect Cever King added another hit, batting 368 in 11 games. The Mets got their long run on a home run by Mark Vientel's in the eighth, but Washington's arms shut the door from there, with Andre Grinillo earning. The win and save.
