Nas Opens Queens' First Casino, Bringing Hip-Hop to High-Stakes

This $5 billion upgrade to the old Aqueduct race track brings Blackjack, Craps, Bokarot, and Roulette right to the neighborhood. The spot already doubled its staff and aims to hire hundreds more over the next three years. Its phase one of a bigger build-out, including a 7,000-seat entertainment spot, new hotel rooms, pools, and a spa. New Yorkers are buzzing about finally ending 400 years without a commercial casino here. Resorts World even shipped in $2 million to finish the hip-hop museum in the Bronx, opening soon, and it edges out Jay-Z shot down times, square plan. Looking ahead, the full $5.5 billion project will pack 2,000 hotel rooms, 6,000 slot machines, and 800 gaming tables. Two more spots got the green light too. Steve Cohen's Metropolitan Park in Queens and Bally's in the Bronx, both eyeing 2030.
