I'm Cory with the story, bringing you the latest from Durham News today. NC State beat Pittsburgh 98-88 in the ACC men's basketball tournament on Wednesday at Spectrum Center in Charlotte. The seventh seeded Wolfpack snapped a four-game losing streak in advance to the quarter finals. They'll face second-seeded Virginia at noon. Both teams shot over 50% from the field in a high-scoring affair. Pittsburgh entered as the 15th seed with a 13-20 record after upsetting Stanford in the first round. They had nothing to lose and no shot at the NCAA tournament. NC State at 2012 needed the wins to boost their NCAA seating and avoid the first four games. Six Wolfpack players scored in double figures, led by Quattier Copeland's 24 points and eight assists. Ben Allen-Luban added 18 points, going perfect from the free-throw line at 8-8. Paul McNeill chipped in 15 points with 3-3s. Pittsburgh's Cameron Corhen topped all scores with 27.
Fowl trouble her both sides, leading to lots of free-throws. NC State won 23-27 from the line at 85%. They rallied from behind in the first half and pulled away early in the second with a 10-to-1 run, holding off a late Panthers push. This victory helps NC State solidify their tournament spot per bracket experts like Joe Lunardi. Now they aim to build momentum against Virginia. This episode is supported by our sponsor.
