Monken's QB Dilemma: Watson, Sanders, or Gabriel?

0:00On April 9th, Todd Monkins settling in as the new head coach for the Cleveland Browns, and in his first two months, he's won over fans with his real talk. But he's still dodging the big question, who's quarterback one? He named drop to Sean Watson, Shadour Sanders, and Dylan Gabriel, saying all three bring something strong to the table and nothing's locked in. Yet they could switch spots anytime. The team just kicked off phase one of their voluntary offseason workouts this week, giving Monkin his first shot to rally the returning players. No on-field stuff yet, but he gets to run a special veteran minicamp right before the draft, April 21st through 23rd, leading into organized team activities on May 19th. Browns fans aren't sold on the high brown Watson, even with the coaches pushing him. They see Sanders as the guy to run point in workouts and hold the top spot on the depth chart heading into camp, unless he slips up big time. Watson's facing a tough road back from a double Achilles rupture at age 30.

Meanwhile, Sanders earned respect last season, steering the team to division wins against the Bengals and Steelers to end the year strong, expect that voluntary minicamp to spark real QB buzz nationwide, and by training camp in late July, we'll know if Watson can climb back to the top, or if Sanders keeps the will, the competition's just heating up.
