Good Sleep is everything. That's why Oli's Science Back Support is made with the blend of melatonin and L.D. and Eneen for both kiddos and grownups. So when your mind won't switch off, you've got something that can help. Your racing thoughts and restless nights won't stand a chance. Find Oli's Sleep Solutions for the whole family at Oli.com. That's O-L-L-Y.com. Welcome to Monday's edition of the Morning Show Podcast. Lucky. Because you deserve a better morning. I guess you could say things looking pretty serious. We're starting our Monday off with giggles in the studio today because we're struggling over. No, only what don't we this situation. You're a cute giggle. Do not we this situation. This is a you situation. Carly Marie came in here and just started giggling, going, oh, it's the case of the Mondays. Okay. Or whatever you are doing. Here's the thing. Sometimes you wake up on a Monday and you're like, oh, it's Monday. I got to do it all over again. I would like everyone today to kind of be grateful that

we get to do it all over again. So why don't we kick off Mingle Monday with that Carly Marie? Yeah. What are you grateful for? What are you grateful for, Carly Marie? You kick us off and then everyone else, if they're on listening on Spotify, they can hit the comment section with who they are, where they're from and what they're grateful for. I am grateful for the weekend I just had because I had a moment where I looked at my calendar and I started looking at every future weekend. And for no joke, the next three months, exactly every weekend, I am either emceeing a sporting event or traveling, which obviously also grateful for that. Oh, phenomenal. Yeah. But I was like, this is my last like nothing weekend or like not heavily packed with chaos weekend. So I said, I'm going to land the couch. I'm going to do whatever my body tells me to do because it's not going to be able to do that over these next weekend. And I was like, take a breath. So you're grateful for the fact that this past weekend, you were able to just relax a little bit with my cats. What are you grateful for, Anthony? You can't say nothing and you

can't say the cats. Look at you taking both of my answers away. I am thankful for this city, for the city of Seattle. And I'll tell you why over the weekend, we were out with some friends and most of us, except for one of the friends that was out to dinner, had moved from elsewhere to Seattle. And all of us were talking about how we grew a little bit and changed a little bit when we got here. Yes. The ones from the East Coast realized that you didn't have to be angry all the time. You can just chill out a little bit. Yep. And I am really thankful for my time in this city because I believe I am a better person because of my time here. Are you leaving? What I'm thankful for? I don't know. Maybe one day. You just made it sound like by the way. No, no, I'm just, I don't really get to thank the city very often. Hit us up in the comments here on Spotify. If you don't have Spotify, you can email us hello at carlamorainanthony.com. Welcome to the Morning Show podcast. My name is Anthony. I'm Carlamoried and do you remember the 21st night of September?

That's all you need. The core for the forehead lines you need to know. Warren Buffett is officially stepping down as chairman of Berkshire Hathaway at 96 years old. That's crazy. Absolutely insane. He spent more than 60 years at the top of the company. His son Howard Buffett will take over as chairman and Warren will still remain on the board. Like, dude, just take a nap. You got the money man retire. It doesn't make sense. But about a year ago, they named a new CEO Greg Able. So he'll be continue in that role. Now, I was like, what even is Berkshire Hathaway? Do you know? It's an investment firm, isn't it? Yeah. So they own companies outright and they also invest in companies. But this is what's wild. When Warren Buffett took control of Berkshire in 1965, it was a struggling textile company and he turned it into a $1 trillion conglomerate that has nearly 400,000 employees, which is incredible.

The companies that they own, I had no idea. Geico. Really? Yeah. BNSF Railway. Oh wow. Dairy Queen, Dorisell, C's Candies. Oh, yeah. And there's a ton of others, but they invest in things like Apple, American Express, Coca-Cola, Bank of America, just wild. So whatever that day comes that Warren Buffett is no longer with us, does that mean we all go to Dairy Queen and like par out like a blizzard for him? Good luck. Come on out. That's true. If you saw a bunch of headlines over the weekend and you're like, wait, do we own Greenland now? The answer is no. But that didn't stop the president for making a huge announcement on Friday into Saturday about a brand new deal that the United States signed with Denmark and Greenland. Now remember, Greenland is under the Kingdom of Denmark. And what Donald Trump said in his very long truth social post was that we now have an infinite lease to build military bases on Greenland while also getting some mining

rights for American companies. Now here's the thing. Back in 1941, we signed a defense agreement, the US and Greenland, after Nazis invaded Denmark. So the Danish government basically said, America, you take over securing Greenland since we have been invaded by the Nazis and we can't protect it. And then in 1951, that temporary agreement became permanent. So for about 85 years, we've had this same exact deal with Denmark and Greenland. The one thing to keep in mind though is that both the legislatures of the governing bodies in Denmark and Greenland have to approve this new agreement. So technically, it's not a done deal yet. And we also haven't seen a lot of the specifics in the agreement to know whether this is any different than the previous defense agreements we have already signed with Denmark. If you're like me and you have to pee everywhere, you go, I've got great news for us. What's that? New York City is adding 17 new public restrooms all across the five boroughs.

It's a four million dollar pilot program. And if it's anything like the pilot program we launched here in Seattle, they're in for a treat of people yelling at them for adding public restrooms because it was crazy. But it's actually incredible in high school. When I used to go to New York City, I'm telling you I would panic because there's nowhere to go to the bathroom, especially when you're 16 years old and can't afford or can't even just get a drink in a bar to use the restroom. Like there's no public restrooms. Yeah, that's always the cheat code if you're out in public is go to a bar, grab a drink, go to the bathroom. But these four million dollar toilets will be free, fully touchless and open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. They're going to have toilets, obviously, sinks, climate control, and baby changing stations. That is incredible. There's one catch, though. You have to unlock them. So you can do it using a QR code, a text message, the Throne bathroom network app, or a physical card if you don't have a smartphone. So it's not just going to be like wide open all the time.

And then with their app, you'll also be able to see which bathrooms are available and the current cleanliness rating. And also I think there's a 10 minute timer so that like if you're there for more than 10 minutes, that door is going to open. Oh my God. That's it. That's scary, though. Yeah. I just want to prepare you for all the headlines that you're going to hear this week about the Chinese president visiting Washington DC. It's a huge meeting, obviously, and they're going to talk a lot about AI and trade tariffs and all of that stuff. And you're going to hear them refer to the first presidential visit since 2015. Which makes it sound like China's president has not been here since 2015. So I decided to look it up. And according to what I have been able to find, his first official presidential visit was in 2015. So towards the end of the Obama years, then he came back for a DC nuclear energy summit in 2016. But that is technically not an official presidential visit. So that's where the difference is.

Then he came back in 2017 and had a meeting at White House South, aka Mar-a-Lago. And then 2023, he met President Biden in San Francisco when there was like a Pan-Asian summit in the city. So the Chinese president has been here a lot, but this is going to be one of the biggest meetings. And you are going to see a lot of headlines, I believe he is due to arrive in DC on Wednesday. Hope for humanity. Come on in the new sucks. There's still hope. I figured we'd go down to Phoenix for hope for humanity to get some good vibes there because the Seahawks just kicked their butt yesterday. So great things though, happening aside from their football team. Like what? They opened a new housing community specifically for seniors experiencing homelessness, which is actually a rapidly growing group in the area. So the first phase of what is called senior bridge includes 40 private studio units for people 55 and older, built from repurposed shipping containers and powered entirely by

solar energy. Each resident will get their own bathroom, a basic kitchen setup, plus a case manager to help connect them with healthcare and food assistance among other services available to them. Because most times people just don't know the services available. And on top of that, they are adding 54 permanent affordable apartments that are being built in the same campus. And those are expected to open by the end of the year. And the goal is to help seniors move from homelessness into these shipping container homes, get them all of the help that they need and then move them into this permanent home. And it's all in one supportive community. I think by now you've put together that football season is back. And if you watched any of week one or week two football games, you probably saw a lot of ads for draft kings. And that is because draft kings is now live in all 50 states, one app, all the football nationwide. Now I'm not here to tell you whether or not you should be betting on draft kings.

There was a Y2K bug people were worried about. The Yankees won the World Series. There's a lot going on in 1999. And that's where all of the songs from today's two second tunes are coming from. Okay. Drop songs of 1999. Great year. Harlem. Marie. Can you please introduce that smooth voice you just heard and are other contestant? Okay. Coming to us from Indianapolis. We have Danny. Good morning, Danny. Good morning. And he's brought his wife, Michelle as a challenger. Good morning, Michelle. Good morning, Kravimari. I also just realized that Michelle's shirt says just married so far, so good. We both have you both have this shirt on. All right. Well, we'll see how it goes after this game. Have you guys wagered anything on the game today? Oh, definitely. So if I win, he is getting a tattoo.

I've been trying to tell him since September to get a tattoo. Wow. And if he wins, I have to do foot massages for him. Okay. Make it easy for me. This is, this is the first tattoo we've had wager. This is definitely the most aggressive wager that we have had on the game. So the pressure is up. Okay. And L wins, Danny gets a tattoo. If Danny wins, Michelle gets foot massages for a week. All right. Well, Karthamari, who's going first? Danny. Here is your first two second tune. That is oops, I did it again. Britney Spears. So you'll get one point for that because it is Britney Spears. Unfortunately, the correct song title is baby. One more time. Let's go, man. I'm so upset because I knew it as you were answering me.

Well, we are one clue closer to a tattoo since you missed that point. Now, Michelle, this is now your part of round one. Here is your two second tune. That is Jeannie in a bottle. Christina Aguilar. Two points. Well, done as we move on to round two. It goes back to Danny. Here is your two second tune. TLC, no scrub. Two points. Well done. Well done. All right. Two points for that one moving into quickly, moving into round two. This is Michelle's part. Here is your two second tune. That is Livelope, I love God.

Fire. Fire. Rick and Martin. You brought us. The panic that just... I was scared. Well, the good thing is, the good thing is, I know it is scary. The pressure is on, but Michelle, remember, you do have a one point lead, I believe, right? Call them right? Michelle has four, Danny has three. All right. And we are moving into the final round for those unfamiliar with the game. This is the hardest of the three rounds. Now, question, what is the tattoo that Danny has to get if he loses the game? That's true. We're only one round away. Okay. So, I want him to get a star tattoo with my birth sign, which is a capricorn in it, and then the date of our wedding, five, six. Oh, wow. Right now, something's like so true. So true. So true. Well, we are one round. I can't disagree with that one. We are one round closer to that possible tattoo.

Danny. Anthony, I'm ready. Let's do it. Wow. Uh-oh. That is the Google dolls. Slide. Okay. Wow. Are you cheating over there? No, absolutely not. I just really had to let it come to me. We listened to the Google dolls in this house all the time. Okay. Man. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know about anyone listening, but I felt like I was sweating while that was going on. Yeah. I definitely felt it inside. I'm not going to lie. I've played it off. The tattoo and the foot rubs are on the line. Michelle, this is how it's going to work. If you get one point here, you lock in the game, that is it. Danny's got to get himself a tattoo. Two points, obviously, the same thing. However, if you don't get this song, Danny has the opportunity to steal your points. He can either tie or win.

Oh, my God. Hold the pressure. So the pressure isn't, but you are still in the lead. Here is your two second tune. Uh-uh. Are you crying? We're laughing. I can't. Chump them from 1999. Well, although that statement is correct, incorrect answer, we are going to move over to Danny who can now either tie or win. One of the first uses of auto tune and pop music in the late 90s with share and believe. Two. We were so, so very close to getting a tattoo because of two second tunes. Danny, I think that you should still get that tattoo because it's a cute tattoo. Just say it. I'm definitely still going to get it. Oh, it's history, history highlights from this week in history.

If you happen to be Italian, gay or like traveling, this is a huge week for you for three separate reasons. If you're all three, by the way, congratulations. I might be a little of all three. This is your week. We're going to go all the way back, though, to 1519. Do you know what happened in 1519 this week, Carlymory? No idea. Ferdinand Magellan started his voyage around the world. Is he the Italian part of the gay part? Neither. He's the traveling part. But don't travel like Ferdinand Magellan because he never made it back. He set out in 1519 and his crew came back in 1522. He died in the Philippines, though. Oh. But we're going to then fast forward to the year 1870. Do you know what happened in this year, Carlymory? Oh, why why? Wow. What a bad Italian you are. Oh, well, unified. You did? Yeah. This week is when the Italian army entered Rome and took power from the Pope, which was the final step in unifying the new country that we now know as Italy.

Listen, I'll show you what I would not be taking anything from the Pope. Well, I mean, I'm very superstitious. The paper, the paper states had like a 1000 year reign. I think they had their time. Anyway, moving on to the year 2011 and it is crazy that it took this long for this to happen. But in 2011, the US military officially repealed Don't Ask Don't Tell, which meant they finally allowed openly gay and lesbian people to join the military before you could technically be gay or lesbian in the military. You just couldn't talk about it. That's why it was called Don't Ask Don't Tell. Okay. That was officially repealed in 2011. So like I said, if you are gay, Italian or like traveling, this big week was a big week for you. Good sleep is everything. I'm about to say something I never thought I'd say. William Shattner's metal band made its debut at Riot Fest in Chicago over the weekend. What? Not fake news. That is real. And here it gets crazier. The 95-year-old Star Trek legend has previously experimented with all kinds of music. He's done country, blues, Christmas music. But this weekend he performed a six song set that included covers of Ozzy Osborne's Crazy Train, Metallica's Enter Sandman, and Motorhead's Ace of Spades. Wow. He's also releasing a heavy metal album called What the F is Heavy Metal. He says that he's now come to understand Heavy Metal and he calls it the rhythm of life.

But they're band. Have you seen their band? I have not. I know nothing about this. It is an asterisk. Ocus. Like you see KDRS. Yeah. Like when you're 95, you obviously don't give a... You know, we've given a lot of crap to the people in their 90s. Like earlier we did it with Warren Buffett saying why is he still working at 96 years old? Who was it last week that just retired? Judge Judy. Judge Judy, how old is she? 70-something. 80-something. 80-80-80. But you know what? If you are rich enough and you can do what William Shatter is doing, because he's just doing side quests. At that point, yeah. Go for it. Yesterday was a very sad day for pop punk fans around the world. Newfound glory, which really is one of the most influential bands in that entire scene, lost one of their original members. Chad Gilbert had been battling a five-year battle with cancer, and unfortunately that came to an end yesterday. It was only 45 years old.

The band was still touring and doing a lot of things without him, which they have been doing for the last five years. But obviously it's a very heavy day for the entire music community. Don't get keep. Share the Morning Show podcast with friends, family, and co-workers. Thank you. That is it for episode 1,040, which it's kind of crazy to think that we've got 1,040 episodes of this little podcast that we decided to give a shot in 2022. Also, I don't think we realized that when we, by chance, picked that weekend or that day, February 22, 2022 to launch the podcast, we launched it when like the world thought we were going to go into World War III. Very heavy week to launch a podcast that actually talks about the news. It was the same week that Russia decided to invade Ukraine. Crazy times. We have been through, it is wild think in four years, just the amount of things we've covered. Yeah. I also wanted to do a video and have like, you know, you do the green screen so you can put

something behind you. Yeah. I wanted to do our log of everything that we've done this year without like zooming in but showing what it looks like. It's a lot. I mean, I got it all right here on a big Google sheet color coordinated because that's the way my brain works. Let's see, this year, if we go all the way back to January 5th, 2026, which was our first episode of this year, that was episode eight hundred and eighty eight. We are now at episode one thousand and forty. We have been more podcast than days our government has worked. Oh, yeah, that's a pretty low bar to set though. That is it for today. Obviously, thank you very much for hanging out with us. We appreciate you. We appreciate your time and we appreciate your pressing all those buttons to get here. We'll take a quick break and then we are back in your ears tomorrow with the Tuesday show. Thanks for listening to the Morning Show podcast.
