WSBTV reports that Secretary Collins spoke at the Georgia State Capitol this week, announcing big changes to simplify disability claims for veterans. He slammed the old 18-page form as stupid, saying his team is cutting it down to just three or four pages to speed things up. Collins highlighted dropping claim processing from 137 days to 77 days and slashing the backlog by over 100,000 claims. But he faced heat over a reversed rule that would have tied benefits to a veteran's health management. Georgia Senator John Assoff called it out in a letter, saying it forced vets to choose between health and earned benefits according to WSBTV. On the fraud front, task and purpose details how the VA is developing a new automated tool to scan disability benefits questionnaires for tell-tale signs of fraud, like missing signatures

Spokesperson Peter Casper-Owich confirmed it's forward-looking to protect vets from claim sharks flooding social media ads. Veterans on platforms like X are split, some cheering the anti-fraud push, while others worry it'll flag legit telehealth claims or treat disabled vets like suspects. Andrew Tangen of the National Association of County Veteran Service Officers backs it, saying it could expose DBQ fraud. Congress is watching closely too. Congressman Steve Cohen's office wrote to Collins demanding answers on claims backlogs per his press release. When U.S. medicine covered Collins defending VA reorganization before the House VA committee, pushing for efficiency amid lawmakers' concerns over job cuts and carestandards.
