It's March 6th. Here's your Durham news in two minutes. Tensions in the Middle East are shaking up energy markets after a drone incident near Saudi Aramco's Ross-Tonora refinery on March 2nd. Debris from two intercepted drones sparked a small, contained fire with limited damage around 7.04 a.m. No lives were lost and local. Supplies stayed steady, but some units went offline for safety. Meanwhile, Qatar energy stopped LNG production at its Ross-Lafon and Masahid sites following attacks. Qatar shipped close to 81 million metric tons of LNG last year and aims to double capacity by 2030. Iran ramped up warnings, threatening to block ships in the strait of Hormuz, a key choke point for global oil flows. Markets priced in the risks right away. Current crude surged 13% intraday to over $82 a barrel before easing to $77 or $78. West Texas Intermediate settled at $71.23.

European natural gas benchmarks jumped more than 40% on fears of supply squeezes. Traders turned cautious across assets. US stocks held mostly flat, with the S&P 500 up a tiny bit and energy shares gaining nearly 2%. Europe dropped over 1%, Treasury yields rose on inflation worries, and the fear index hit 25 intraday. Analysts now watch for refinery restarts, Hormuz flows down 4 million barrels per day from normal in oil forecasts like $80 to $90. From city or potential triple digits if disruptions drag on. The focus stays on the whole energy network in the region. This episode is supported by our sponsor. Press play. Put your head down. Sound is already there, S-O-L-I-SOLYPILLOW.com
