This week we discuss updates impacting Microsoft Copilot, Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams:

Classic Microsoft Teams is retiring on July 1, 2025, requiring users to upgrade or use the web version. Teams is also adding significant accessibility features, including Real-Time Text (RTT) for meetings and calls, alongside productivity enhancements like Cross-location Shifts in the Shifts app, new DVR capabilities for town halls on mobile, and improved peripheral support.
Microsoft 365 Copilot sees substantial expansion, with the introduction of People Skills, the capability to reason over OneNote Pages, convert content from Copilot Pages to Word, and expanded reference abilities in Word. Copilot is also being integrated into services like OneDrive for meeting recordings, Power Automate Process Mining, and Viva Glint, and there are updates specifically for unlicensed Copilot Chat users.
For Word and Excel, users will be prompted to back up their files to OneDrive, dynamic watermarking is being introduced for sensitive files, Python in Excel is expanding eligibility, and SharePoint will enable requesting eSignatures directly from Word documents.
Outlook updates include the availability of Outlook Newsletters, the addition of name pronunciation on profile cards (shared with Teams), and large audience warnings on mobile.
