Michigan Wolverines Pursue Top Center Obinna Ekezie Jr.

They disloct in the number two high school recruiting class for 2026, led by five star guard Brandon McCoy and four star forward. Quinn Costello. Now they're turning eyes to 2027, hosting top prospect O'Bina Ekezi Jr. this weekend in Ann Arbor. This seven-foot 220-pound center out of Lagos is a consensus top 10 recruit. 27 sports composite ranks him number seven overall and the top center, while on three has him at number two nationwide. He's got the size and skills to dominate right away. Ekezi's already turning heads with the stats. Last year at prolific prep, he averaged 10 points, seven rebounds, three blocks and two assists as a sophomore all-American. At the NBA top 100 camp, he posted 7.2 points, 3.5 boards and 2.3 swats per game. He's the son of XNBA Big Man O'Bina Ekezi who suited up for the wizards, maves, clippers and hawks.

Word is he might reclassify to join that stacked 2026 class, especially with Michigan needing center depth after a day Mara eyes the draft.
