About this episode
The New York Mets bullpen, bolstered by new additions like Devin Williams and Luke Weaver, suffered a setback when promising young pitcher Justin Hagenman sustained a rib fracture, sidelining him indefinitely. Welcome to New York meds news today. Two minutes of updates that matter to New York meds fans, hit subscribe and stay connected. The New York meds are gearing up for the new MLB season after a tough year they kept them out of the playoffs. They brought in fresh talent across the roster and loaded up the bullpen with veterans like Devon Williams and Luke Weaver from the Yankees. But just days before opening day, a key young pitcher took a big hit. Dustin Hagenman, who debuted last season with nine appearances including one start, struck out 23 batters over 23 and two thirds. Endings while posting a 4.56 ERA. During spring training, he suffered a rib fracture in his last outing and the pain got worse until scans confirmed it. Manager Carlos Mendoza called it a pretty significant injury with no clear return date, saying Hagenman will be sidelined for a while. This comes right as the bullpen was shaping up to be one of the team's top strengths. To make room on the 40-man roster, the meds moved Hagenman to the 60-day injured list.
They quickly turned to the Weaver wire and claimed left-hander Richard Love Lady from the Washington Nationals. Love Lady joins the meds for another shot after stints with them last season where he pitched 10 innings with nine strikeouts but gave up seven earned runs. Have a team leans harder on his new vets and hopes Love Lady steps up to keep the relief group solid for a playoff run. D&N is brought to you by our sponsor link in the description.
