On May 1st, Pittsburgh Steelers' wider receiver DK Metcalf is in the clear no charges coming from that dust up with a Detroit Lions fan back in. December, Wayne County prosecutors dropped the hammer Friday, saying they won't file anything after digging into the whole thing during the Steelers. 29-24 win on December 21st. It all popped off in the second quarter along the sideline rail. The fan, Ryan Kennedy, decked out in Lions gear with a blue wig, leaned over too far, wig flopping in his face, and Metcalf reached out with one arm. But barely made contact, if any. The NFL hit Metcalf with a two-game suspension to end the regular season, but he bounced back for Pittsburgh's first round playoff lost the Houston. That kept him out of action right when the team needed him most. Prosecutors spend months on it, pouring over video, talking to Kennedy, security, and nearby fans. They nixed the warrant because Kennedy showed no injuries and never got medical help at the game. Metcalf's lawyer called it a fair outcome, and while that settled criminally, Kennedy's defamation suit against him is still hanging out there.
Case closed on the field drama, at least for now.
