Met Officer Stalking Trial: PC Samson Akinnawo

0:00On March 13, a metropolitan police officer who starred in a recent recruitment campaign has landed in court on stalking and harassment charges. 35-year-old PC Samson Akanawa allegedly targeted a woman with unwanted contact from June to August last year. He featured prominently in the met's change needs, you drive back in July 2024, talking up his childhood dream of joining the force and, appearing in their ads. Prosecutors say his repeated calls, messages, home visits, and even admitting he followed her from work left the victim in serious distress, messing with her everyday routine. He also reached out to her friend after his arrest. During Friday's hearing at Temis Magistrate's Court, Akanawa admitted not handing over his phone passcode to officers on November 26, last year. The suspended specialist operations officer from Newham got conditional bail ahead of his April 10th plea hearing at Snare's Brook Crown Court, as the met investigates further.
