Absolutely fantastic and very excited to share a conversation with you because you bring up a lot of subjects inside this book that really do pertain to where we presently are. And I just think that it's going to be a great conversation starter because people are going to bring their own personal experiences into it. That's great. So glad you think that way. Yeah, I think the timing for the release of this book is not bad.

2:06Did you know that going into this project, though, or was it something that you just felt like we need to be talking about this and I'm going to be the activator? I think this book, I've been working on this book for now more than 10 years. Oh my god. So this has been my pre-authentic vision. I've been working for about 10 years. You know, and I didn't know for you like, you know, if you see the world in the framework that I said on this book and you can understand how we got into the mess that we're into that. Yeah. Right? Well, and it definitely didn't happen overnight. It's been building up for a long time. And I think, you know, what I wanted to mention between you and this book is the idea that everybody is responsible. And I think from that point of view, I think, you know, at this point, maybe the battle has been lost, but I think it's very important to take this debate directly to the general readers.

3:07So how did it make sense which would be going on regardless of the background? Yes. So that we can make any smarter decisions of our next step, because like, you know, we could be heading into what we're afraid. At the rate of which we're going, I mean, as you can see what's happening over this Iran business. And as you know, I mean, it's real. I think this is why I think, you know, because this whole topic about globalization is so misunderstood. Okay. And it's been manipulated by political forces on both sides. But I think that, you know, I think it's time that somewhere like me, with the public globalization, I think, you know, I like to think that I'm more qualified than most people in terms of writing this book. To really not take a political stance or an ideological stance, but simply set up the truth in a way that actually can be understood by everybody. Again, to me, the most important thing about globalization is the fact that it touched everybody everywhere regardless

4:09whether they know or not. And I think, you know, especially at this particular moment in time, like, for example, you know, I live in Israel, right? And in something that I've been talking about over the last couple of weeks is the fact that a lot of people don't realize the war in Iran is actually the first possible war between the United States and China. Oh, yeah. The reason why it's managed to, right back as hard as they had, it has a lot to do with the help they've been getting from China. But it's interesting because only two months ago, the Chinese were very reluctant to provide your run with the strategic backstop. It was not until it comes into a lot of actions against Venezuela that China had decided to reassess, you know, the risk of staying on the timeline. So I think from now front of you, again, what we need to understand is that there's cause and there's effect. And so from now front of you, we have to be able to go all the way back to the beginning. And it's very important for everybody to understand what it is about.

5:09Because there's no question if you look at war in Iran, there will be two other war moves in the past. You know, we sort of sweep walk ourselves into the thing. So I decided to use the device of a novel. Okay. Something, again, everybody can understand people will be in the team by and people will find it interesting to really connect the doctors. And that's really the aim here in this book to help people figure out. How do we get ourselves into this big mess? Please do not move. There's more with David Wu right around the corner. What people are doing right now, is they're either going to Google or they're going to chat GPT or they're going to Brock and they're looking for answers when in fact you're sitting here writing it inside your book and you're getting it in real-life terms

7:10to where they can have a better understanding it at the pace that they're doing it and not something that's just slammed into a digital effort. I think that's exactly right. I don't want it. I'm not dismissing Google and whatever it is, Facebook. The problem is, in these days, it's too easy to become an opinion-maker. Everybody, you know, has read three books before they want to become an opinion-maker. The problem is that there are more opinions and there are facts. And that is, I think, the biggest failing of the whole digital media that actually, that people can say whatever they want to say, you know, you can say well, it's my men's rights and so on and so forth. But the point here is that, you know, I think, I'm fortunate, but I think, you know, there's something to be said about decentralizing basically the narrative, but I think this is also very dangerous. And I'm just saying, like, listen, I was born in this work of Taiwan's parents. I grew up in Taiwan one with education from the most part of the U.S.

8:13and then I got my teaching in international trade at Columbia University. My first job was working for the International Monetary Fund. My first job in the private sector was actually in London working for Citibank, covering all of emerging markets. My last job on Wall Street was at the head of global interest rates, currencies, emerging market, economic research, where I was responsible for the bank's forecast for over 150 countries. I think, you know, I've been through hundreds of countries. I mean, I was very lucky. My jobs has actually introduced me a lot of people at different walks of life. I feel like I want, you know, when I retired, my wife said to me, you've got to basically get something back. And I'd be fit to write a novel, drawing my own personal experience, but in a very broad way. So that I wanted, you know, again, you know, I would be welcome. I would welcome any sort of pushback of my book, but I will just book in as honest a way as I could, because I feel connected, you know, about what's been going on the last 20 years.

9:18We don't throw out the baby with a bath water. Okay. I also think that, you know, there's a big difference between globalization and globalism. I'm against globalism, but I'm not against globalization. And there's a very, very big difference between the two. So I'm just saying, like, you know, if it rains, it's unfortunate. I think the world's gone through this point. It's a very dangerous point. I don't know how much I can do to move the needle. But this is my attempt at trying to help basic people to have more honest dialogue. And I think again, you know, like, this is why I put it in a novel so that everybody can relate. I'm guaranteeing that hundreds of characters in the book, I'm fairly certain everybody picking up this book will be able to find somebody they can identify with. And I think that is also what I'm trying to do, because in a way that globalization was going on the world today, it's not somebody else's problem. It's all a problem, whether you know it or not. I love where your heart is. Where can people go to find out about you, David? Because 10 minutes with you is not going to be enough time.

10:20They need to go in there and dive in there. And so they can make their way to a bookstore. I want them to physically put their hands on a real book this time around. Yeah, so basically first of all, you know, I now have a YouTube channel going. People want to know what I think about politics, geopolitics, economic technology. They can look me up on YouTube, David Rumbound. Okay, you know, it's free. So there's no obligation. I did this in order to engage people in, you know, sort of a very honest, but also rigorous dialogue about, and should be the four major sources driving the world today. And if you want to read up about me, you know, just my Wikipedia page, you can read up about me, you know, like just last month in your time's publishing article, I wrote about my relationship with my wife, who's my co-author, who is 20 years older than me, who's published in the marketing love section of the New York Times.
