Founder Heidi Akuna says her team is exhausted after months of nonstop work, and they just took in 10 puppies from a dirty backyard kennel in Dover. The mother dog is underweight and the family surrendered them because they could not afford vet care. Here this week, Akuna posted on Facebook begging for help after other rescues turned her down. She told local news that without more support, they cannot keep up with the flood of animals hitting the area. People in the community are hearing the call, but Akuna stresses, this is not about blame. It's about breaking the cycle of unwanted litters, especially, among pibbles that roam streets and keep reproducing.
