Drivers from McLaren matched Mercedes' pace in the first sector at Shanghai, but fell behind in the other two, leaving a clear gap of about six tenths. Of a second, Piaštri called his lab decent, but admitted the Mercedes' edge looks tough to close this weekend, especially in the final sector, while Norris' eyes A. Strong star from third to challenge the leaders, the 19-lap sprint kicks off Saturday at 2pm Australian Eastern Daylight Time, followed by Grand Prix qualifying at 6pm.
