Meet Poppykettle

About this episode

Poppykettle is Melanie's online name. You may know her through her sewing blog as well as her instagram account.

Many years ago, Mel decided there was more to life than simply working full time. Sewing classes gave her the sewing basics and she began to sew her own clothes with confidence - creating the work life balance she craved.

When it came time to preparing for 'her big day' Mel wanted to make her own wedding dress so she went and learnt couture sewing techniques with Susan Khalje. Through Mel's prompts, Susan did teach in Australia and at the Melbourne couture sewing classes Mel met like-minded sewist, including Tatyana. Tatyana became their sewing facilitator and it became evident that the Melbourne group needed a local teacher to help fit their clothes so Tatyana created her Couture Sewing School. Tatyana's Couture Sewing School now offers online classes and patterns.

Mel's incredible sewing journey shows how people in the sewing community really do help each us all further our sewing skills.
