Maybe You Don’t Need Another Sign: Trusting Your Intuition
About this episode
Have you ever asked for a sign, received one, and then immediately asked for another? Today on Spiritually Wired, Renée explores the difference between seeking intuitive guidance and searching for certainty. While signs, synchronicities, astrology, Human Design, and other spiritual tools can offer meaningful guidance, there comes a point when looking outside of ourselves can become a way of avoiding what we already know. Listen in to hear a grounded perspective on how to cut through self-doubt and make decisions from a place of deep self-trust.
Keep listening to hear:
- How repeatedly asking for signs can shift from seeking spiritual guidance to looking for external permission or certainty
- Why intuition doesn’t always feel comfortable and why the most aligned decision can still bring disappointment, fear, or uncertainty
- Why trusting your inner knowing over outside pressure requires courage
- How intuition exists in the space between your thoughts and why cultivating intuition requires quieting external noise and being present within your body
- How taking action on intuitive guidance strengthens self-trust, while surrendering attachment to the outcome creates space for stronger co-creation
- The importance of discerning between love and fear and how to recognize the energy your feelings are rooted in
Following inner guidance doesn’t always feel peaceful, expansive, or easy. Sometimes, intuition asks us to look beyond the external world of signs and trust ourselves even when there is no guarantee we are making the “right” choice. Before you go, please leave a like on this episode and share it with someone who is expanding into their inner knowing.

Hi, I'm Renee Walker, a mindset mentor, speaker, and lover of all things spiritual. I believe that at our core, we are all spiritually wired for love, peace, success, and abundance. Here on the podcast, we're diving into mindset, wellness, and business, but always through spiritual lens. Let's just say we're going deep, but we're keeping it light. So let's elevate your life from the inside out, one conversation at a time. Welcome to Spiritual Wires. I am back with a mini solo episode, and it is all about signs, intuition, and what it really means to trust yourself. If you ever asked for a sign, and then when you got one, you weren't quite sure if it was the right sign, so you asked for another one.
Or maybe it wasn't quite the answer that you wanted, so you asked for another sign. Or maybe you pulled another card, or maybe you asked a friend, or maybe you went on chat GPT and poured your heart and soul on the page to receive guidance from it, or you booked a reading, or you looked at your human design chart, your astrology chart. And even after all of that, you still feel like the answer is not clear. Now I love signs. I love synchronicities. I'm all about exploring, learning about your human design and astrology and all those things. It's not that I don't love those things. You've heard me talk about them on the podcast. However, at what point does asking for another sign become a way of avoiding what you already know? That is the question.
At what point does asking for guidance become asking for more permission? Or maybe it's not the answer that you're looking for, or maybe what you're looking for is certainty. And those are two actually different things. Asking for intuition or asking for guidance, intuitive guidance is very different than asking for certainty on something. So let's dive in then. One of the greatest misconceptions about intuition is that the right decision, what feels right, what's being intuitively, what you're being intuitively guided towards, is going to feel good. It's going to be expansive. It's going to feel at peace, right? You're going to feel at peace with the decision. It's going to feel super clear, certain. And sometimes it does feel that way.
And that's amazing when that happens. You get the goosebumps and you have this, just knowing in your heart and it's just, I feel like you can melt and take a deep breath. But it's not always like that. Sometimes your intuition is going to ask you to do something that feels super uncomfortable. Maybe you're going to feel disappointed even by the guidance that you're receiving. Or it means saying, notice something that you really want to do. Maybe it means that listening to your intuition means that you're going to potentially hurt people's feelings in the process. So intuition is not always going to feel great. Most of the time. It probably isn't. Now there's a story that I love and it is a story that Dolly Parton has shared.
We have recently lost Dolly and she is one of my favorite people. So this story here is one where she had, so she wrote, I will always love you. And years ago, Elvis Presley wanted to record that song. Of course, she was ecstatic about it. He was huge at the time. And right before recording, his manager called and said that Elvis would not record it unless she was willing to give up half of the publishing rights. And that is something that she never did. She always kept and owned all of the publishing rights. She knew intuitively, deep down, even though she wanted more than anything for Elvis to record this song intuitively, she knew that this was not the right decision, that she could not do it. So she said no.
They did not record or he did not record the song and she was devastated. And this is the part of the story that I find is so powerful is that like she shared how she went home and she cried all night. Like she was so sad about it because she wanted more than anything for Elvis to sing the song, but she was not willing to go against her intuition, her inner knowing. That was strong. She knew what her value was. She knew what was right for her and she would not go against that. And so listening to her intuition meant being disappointed, meant being sad. It wasn't the easy decision. And we can only imagine, right, her team and people around her were probably saying, are you crazy? Like Elvis, like say yes, how can you say no to Elvis Presley? And even though you're giving up 50% of the rights, like really you're going to make up for it, I'm sure that the external world was probably
putting a lot of pressure on her and yet she chose to stay true to her intuition. There's no certainty that this was right and yet she still trusted it and she still listened to it. Now it turns out, right, that years later Whitney Houston records it and she ends up making up for it in so many more ways. However, the fact that she was able to trust and lean into that inner guidance in that moment when it would not have felt like the right decision. And I think that these are the conversations that are so important for us to have together. The surrendering piece, right, they're not knowing is such a big part of listening to your intuition, of trusting it. You'll never know for sure. And our mind is designed for certainty. That's how we feel safe.
We need to know, right, the your, the amygdala, that part of your brain is always scanning, scanning outside, scanning for threats, wants to know and keep you safe. And listening to your intuition, trusting it, is taking a leap of faith. You're not going to know for sure. But yet there is this knowing that you cannot explain. It's not logical. Now logic is a part of your brain and it's an important part of your brain. I'm not saying that we don't look at the logical piece, but it really is intuitively, right, is about merging the two together, the right and the left side of the brain, bringing both of them together and leaning into the unknown, the trust. Knowing that the no certainty is a part of it. It's the uncomfortable part of it. So it means that you're going to honor what you know and without knowing for sure that
it's the right piece and that's why it's a spiritual practice, right? Because you are in co-creation with this higher power, with the universe, God's source, consciousness. However, you want to define it. Your intuition is the way in which this higher power, this higher form of consciousness, is communicating with you. It's through your intuition and that can be physical sensations. It can be goosebumps. It can be a gut knowing. It can be something in your heart. So we all experience it differently, which is why there's never a set way. There's never like all these finite ways of doing it. Learning to trust yourself means paying attention, turning down all of the external noises and actually leaning into what your intuition, which is what your higher form of consciousness
is communicating to you, right? And we're all going to experience it differently. So you need this muscle that you are working. Now this is bringing me back to signs. There's nothing wrong with signs. I'm a big fan of signs. I ask for signs all the time. I'm always noticing. I'm in seeing so many 11-11s and 1-1s lately. It's been crazy this past week. But the thing with when we're asking for signs is that bringing back the surrendering piece, there cannot be any attachment to what we want the guidance to be. It has to come from an open, detached place. So if your intuition is the energy of consciousness moving through you, we can't manipulate it in any way. We're the channel of it. So our work is to stay open enough to allow for it to move through us, and to witness
and to notice and to pay attention. So if we are attached to certain outcomes, then we are disconnecting from our intuition, right? It requires this spaciousness, this openness, this willingness, this curiosity to allow for it to be what it is. So that is such an important piece of listening and trusting our intuition is allowing for it to move through. So a quick reminder of the steps, something that I've shared here before, but your intuition speaks to you in the moment. In the present moment, doesn't come from the past, doesn't come from the future, doesn't live in the thoughts. It is purely right here, right now. I would say it's in the space in between your thoughts. So you have 40 to 60,000 thoughts in a day. Your intuition is going to live in the space in between your thoughts.
So when you take a deep breath and you can feel it moving through, even though your intuition can come through thought form, it's going to have a different frequency to it. It's going to kind of stand out in a different way. Even though you might maybe hear it, it's going to come through from a different resonance. It's not like the voice of your thoughts. It's going to have a different energy to it. So paying attention to being in the present moment so that you can be aware of it and you need to listen to it, to actually feel it. So pay attention to the body. Listen to the way in which the intuition is speaking to you. This is where it's all different again, right? So I know when I get like goosebumps or when I feel either contraction or expansiveness in my heart, that feels like intuition. I usually feel it on my left side. I've come now to that point where I can actually pinpoint the location and what it feels
like in my body. What bridges it is the trust piece and trust means you're taking action. You're doing something. It's like I'm being guided towards this and now the next step is I'm going to take action and the only way to take action is to trust in the guidance, right? And then from there is the surrendering piece. It's the letting go of the attachment to it. It's the trusting that everything is unfolding for my highest and best when I am in co-creation. What's my highest and best though? Doesn't mean that it's always going to feel good. Doesn't mean that it's always going to be rosy or perfect or none of that. What's for my highest and best is where my soul is guiding me towards. And that can be lessons that I'm here to learn. It can be people that I need to meet, situations that I'm meant to have. And in order to have them, yeah, maybe I need to do what feels like a wrong decision,
but that is a detour and it's bringing me back to where I need to be. All we can do is lean into that inner knowing. Our work is to cultivate, to work that muscle of trust, knowing that we will never know 100% with 100% certainty from the logical side of the brain. It means that we are staying open enough in our hearts to trust, to take that leap, and to listen, to take the action that feels right. Even though it may not make sense, there is something about it that feels right. The more that you practice it, like everything else, the more it becomes easier to trust. Because now you start to build evidence of like, yeah, remember that time? I was unsure and then look how it worked out, right?
So the more that we work with it, the more that we listen to it, the more that we create the space, the environment that allows us to listen to it, the more that we can learn to trust it. What is the energy behind it? Keep coming back to that. What is the energy behind it? Is it love? Is it fear? Right? Love, make no mistake, is fierce. It is protective. It is guiding you towards something that might not feel, ooh, safe. Fear can be disguised as comfort, as safety, right? It's like, oh, no, this feels good, this feels safe, and so I'm going to stay here. It doesn't mean that comfort is always love. And this is the discernment piece, right? There's nuance to all of this. So, ah, deep breath. Give yourself the time in the space to explore, to stay open in your heart over time.
The more that you take action, the more that you trust and lean into your intuition, the more that you can start to really, fully embrace it. And that it'll never be certain, but you can lean towards it more of that becomes louder than everything else. And so this is your reminder today.
