3:08And so there are several questions that are about to begin to be answered From a baseball standpoint Who's good? Who isn't That's one of How good aren't You're good And You know with teams like Arkansas and LSU You know losing Florida Losing a bunch of non-conference games that are kind of non-typical for those programs Is are they down or was that just a fluke? Is the league down or is that just a flu Is state really that much better than everybody else in the SEC aside from Texas maybe I Mean we're about to start to answer some of that. You know tonight This is a huge opportunity for Ole Miss

4:09Tonight They are at Southern Miss in Hattiesburg Tonight Pete Taylor Park six p.m. first pitch and Southern Miss we know has already Clipped Mississippi state A one-run win last week or week four last one here that was And I guess it was last week and Now in comes Ole Miss and see the thing about it is Ole Miss 15 and two Nobody's You know for what it's worth ranked them whatever that means State 14 and two and everybody's got them right there at the top and of all the rankings So what's the difference? I mean Ole Miss has played a pretty good schedule too They absolutely are one of the best 25 teams in the country if you're doing a 25 poll now again side note There's no real reason to do that Because 60 some 68 teams whatever it is going to get into the The baseball tournament at the end of the year So don't go out here and make your own 25 team poll. That's a waste of time

5:14It's all of them are it's 60 something nearly 70 teams getting in you're gonna give me a poll with 25 But just for the sake of conversation Is Ole Miss one of the best 25 teams? Yeah, they are Ain't no doubt about it. There's no doubt they are and they'll prove it at some point but Big opportunity for them because it's true road game Southern Misses RPI this year is going to be really good and And it already is really good They've got them ranked highly and Ole Miss going in there after Southern Miss already beat state and they can make a statement State and two lane they're playing in Balexie tonight at the minor league park down there Does it have the same name? 7:16SEC sports quotes uh compiled By a guy named Chris Warner He's a nice guy. I talked to him back whenever he sent me this book back in the day um There was a note in it from him and it this I thought this was interesting on the back of the note uh from Chris Warner it said Five random acts of kindness one do something nice for someone you know Or don't know To do something nice for someone in your family Three do something to help a school in your community For do something nice for someone who helps others like teachers law enforcement Fire military service people Five encourage and support those who create music art short stories and who make the world a better place in any creative way That was great five points on random acts of kindness It's not facts that were in this book uh grumpy

8:18It's random quotes compiled and arranged per SEC school now this would have been done back in 2008 Okay, so it was prior to Texas saying em and Missouri coming into the SEC back when you had a measly old 12 teams in the SEC Kind of like the original well not the original cuz swanian in this But pretty much the original SEC teams and so it's as you flip through the book It's alphabetical order and you start out with like you know Alabama and Arkansas and Auburn and you work your way through so it's it's sectioned by school then You'll have quotes from former coaches players media people he might say anything about them and And in the case of state yesterday. It was it had some John Grisham quotes and Let's see I I've lost the place by now. I apologize for that. I'll see if I can find it later, but you know

9:22I had a couple of those John Grisham quotes that were in there about Mississippi State baseball and duty noble field and I read those in the show And when Winslow called in he said well my favorite one was when you know John Grisham said this And he quoted him and after the show I flipped over and I found in the book That quote that Winslow was referencing from John Grisham. So it was in there too Anyway, there's neat stuff that I do think it's It'd be a neat little thing to have in your backpack like on a trip And if you had to sit around or kill some time maybe read them on the beach or You know in the airport flip through and read some of those quotes. I found it pretty interesting There's some good ones in there Then the other book that I referenced I think that's the one you were talking about grumpy the other book that I did reference I still didn't bring it into the studio. 13:34Squibb kick it to a fat guy volume two 701 more memorable quotes from the playbook of coach Mike leach So that means there's a volume one out there too Alan Burton the guy who put these together sent it to me a couple of years ago He also author and compiler here and very creative and really did a really nice job with this Example it's like it's full of this kind of stuff see it's not it's just quote after quote after story after story of both from Mike leach and from others Examples I happen to open to this volume two to page 130 right where it's referencing the one that the books named after Mike leach on his strategy of the red raiders of texas tech using a squib kick To run out the clock in their Upset of top ranked texas back in 2008 quote The plan was to squib kick it to a fat guy of course

I'm like, huh And then he said it loud where I could hear it. He said candied or fresh Oh, huh I didn't know what's the difference So I told him put fresh ones on their fresh sounded good to me and they were good. I didn't know I didn't know Hail state fan on the YouTube live stream. He says I can only drink iced coffee My thermostat seems to run hot most of the time. So what do you mean So if you you're saying if you drink hot coffee you sweat or just too hot

18:47Hmm, I know a lot of people that way. It's fine. Nothing wrong with iced coffee. You do you I mean, I don't I don't really like it Cold stuff. I want it to Either be water or something with bubbles in it Which I need to I need to drink less of those carbonated drinks and more of The water but mostly the water drinker But I want that hot coffee the hot is a great big part of drinking it to me. Did y'all just happen To to do as I suggested and watch the world baseball classic game last night USA in Mexico First of all They're playing in Houston, Texas And it was basically a home game for team Mexico. 19:51I mean, it really was But regardless it was an incredible Sold out standing room only atmosphere USA jumps up five to nothing here comes Mexico storming back late Had the tying run at the plate couldn't get it done and USA wins five to three, you know schemes pitched He was phenomenal and the shortstop for team USA wit For the royals was it Bobby wit in his name man It was web gym after web gym and these guys were playing their guts out playing hard Bad wanted to win it was awesome Told you you should watch it The world baseball classic. I loved it It's a great game last night

20:52USA plays again tonight they play Italy. Did you know Italy played baseball I got a team now we discovered this yesterday, you know, it doesn't have to be People on one of these WBC teams like in that country right now could be people who's even it's just like their parents are from there or something We saw that with great Britain dog tired called us yesterday and brought that up. I'm just telling you it was It was an incredible baseball game It was very very very world series ask I'm just telling you that's the truth. It's way it felt USA three and O playing again tonight Against Italy and I guess what you if they win the night they absolutely stamp Their spot for the weekend, right Which would be quarterfinals beginning on Friday now. I'm just telling you if you're sports fan Turn it on that I don't know if this one the night will be as intense stick around

Okay, and Japan, obviously, well has the best pitching staff So we're really fixing to move into when it's really gonna get good United States last night qualify for the next round, which is a knockout round losing your goal

24:00Mexico plays Italy um tomorrow night And the loser of that game might stay home. So possible mexico could be eliminated because Italy's not bad. Okay, okay, they've got some major league players, but watch the You know, we we we're we're advancing it doesn't matter what we do tonight. Okay, we're advancing to the knockout round Okay, another game to watch tomorrow. I think it's tomorrow is the Dominican Republic and Venezuela. That will be a fantastic game Okay, and so I'm looking at I'm looking at this um So the US team are they're playing Italy tonight. You say it doesn't matter. They're already three and oh US is so they're into the weekend. Yeah, regardless. Okay, the Dominican Republic yesterday They went three and oh they beat israel 10 to one. So it's pretty dominant there All right, I think they dominated all three games. Okay, and then

25:04They're kind of like the uh Old Tennessee of college baseball. They've got an attitude play with okay That's cool. And then as you say you said Italy's not that bad. They're two and oh and that that's who The United States team plays tonight. Yeah, they've got quite a few major league players on that team So they're not a they're not a pushover. Okay, but again that we can relax. You know, we're we're into the we're into the next round You do want to win for a better city, but yeah, we are in for the knockout round. Okay. Well, I'm telling you Craig I was telling this story, you know, but I think it was two Cycles ago world baseball classic not the most recent one in 23 But I think the one before that is the first time I caught some of it and it was one of those deals where I woke up one morning It like four and I go and I was sitting in front of the TV and I flipped through and boom

26:04There's this game and at that time it was like Korea Hosting, you know, maybe Japan or something like that It was and and it was over there You know, it was like a home game for the Korean team at that time and the atmosphere was phenomenal The game was great and it totally pulled me in. I've kind of been in on it ever since and I I don't know how you felt about it You know, I was talking to my dad throughout the game last night because I told him he needed to watch and then we got into it Talking about it and it was world series level intensity on the field and in that stadium last night in Houston no doubt Well, I'm just going to be honest. I like it a lot better than the world series. I mean the you know look look at the United States team go through that line Oh, I know. Yeah, they can walk to a world series championship. Yeah I mean, just look at the lineup, you know skiing last night pitching. He was unhittable. He was unhittable totally came out

27:06Yeah, he was just unhittable. So go look at go look at our lineup and our roster. Yeah, that team could Cruise to a world series. Let me ask you this. Let me ask you this Have you ever seen two not one but two better plays in one game by any shortstop than what Bobby with had last night Never I mean I thought the first one he made I was like that's one of the greatest plays I've ever seen And then he did it again. Yeah, he did he did it again I was like oh my god. I know. Yeah, it's It's intense and I didn't realize really till last night what a great guy Paul skiing did. Yeah mild mannered good Americans from the Air Force baseball team pay for their trip and their ticket. He's just I didn't realize I didn't know much about him personally Yeah, I'm real impressed with that young man. Hey, and did you see the thing where he goes out to warm up to the top gun music theme song?

I mean, it's real baseball they were they were absolutely into it both teams The stadium was full standing room only and I can say it was mostly not all but mostly mexico fans In Houston, Texas. It was a great atmosphere. They were intense the broadcast last night on Fox was totally focused on baseball

30:17Wasn't you know a bunch of the you know BS that you get on a lot of the other broadcast It was just really good. Okay, and so my dad goes you know I used to know who everybody was on every team He's talking about major league baseball stuff and now I've lost he says now lost track I don't know who these guys And so when he said who does that guy tell my Bobby where he says who's he played for said he plays for the royals and He said I want to start watching them You know, but I mean it was that good He he was incredible um Tyler commented on the country please in text line Said Dylan Duluccio one of the starting pictures from Ole Misses national championship team pitches for Italy And Josh mallets for Israel. Wow Really now that is cool. Okay, and the the Italian team is who team USA plays tonight

Yes, they did You know, I um the one early from Aaron judge out in right field And And you know the thing was to like he caught that ball coming in on one hop like a perfect little one hop right into his glove on his army didn't have to reach Then he can go full on momentum crow hop and he throws a dart Third base and then later. Yeah, the play at the plate. I thought the catcher from the Mexico team Did an incredible job on the tag. Oh, he was a great tag You know, so the throw in the tag. That was really really good

35:26Uh Was this he'll state fans said anyone that mentions me or my likes in the same breath can meet me at sonic What All right, I have what I think is a little bit of News for you regarding the structure or lack thereof around college athletics You know governing college athletics right now. It's pretty much every man for himself So, you know I guess this would go back to the end of last week when president trump had the round table that room full of people Nick Sabin was there and I think Greg sank he was there and a bunch of other folks right From all walks of life Tiger Woods was there and a whole big thing. I saw some some of the comments and things there um Lawmakers did most of the talking as you might expect and You know what clips I saw from it

36:30The thing that I liked was okay, but at least you have some people recognizing that Things are a little bit crazy. You got to put some sort of I don't know structure around if you're going to have a league or whatever it seemed to me That and and if they want it. Okay, now this reported today Just a little bit ago. Maybe maybe right around a little less than an hour ago. So it's actually this being reported by heather dynich Who covers college football for somebody Uh right after we started the radio show today. Here's what it says Mississippi State President Mark Keenum Said SEC presidents and chancellors are meeting this week in Nashville with the hopes of starting to establish some real rules and guidance for the league and others Assuming that Congress cannot establish federal legislation quickly enough on

37:30N-I-L It says they aren't expected to make any monumental decisions But would like to get a framework started before the SEC holds its annual spring meetings in destined Florida And then the final note here in her report says they meaning presidents and chancellors are fed up with the status quo They are fed up with the status quo Now how about that? What do you think about that? There's a lot there. It's just one paragraph and a report from heather dynich We're talking mark Keenum who you know Mark dr. Keenum is important. He chairs a lot of the things and and chairs the college football stuff and all that And uh, he's kind of speaking for the group here But all of your presidents and chancellors from the SEC are going to meet this week in Nashville You got the SEC men's basketball tournament starting tomorrow State and Ole Miss both play tomorrow by the way and it'll go all the way through the weekend. So they're gonna meet this week

38:36They want to establish some rules and guidance For the SEC Now again here in this report it says assuming Congress cannot establish federal legislation quickly enough on N-I-L But I guarantee you it's not just N-I-L. I guarantee you that Just take just take it as fact that that N-I-L as you believe it to be quote-unquote name image and likeness money And we're talking pay for play that ain't the only issue You know, it's just as big an issue is the transfer um prominence that you have right now Okay Now let me take it one step further for you And I'll just pose it to you as a question And this goes for you know anyone with any interest you could be a diehard fan you could simply be a You know casual fan maybe you graduated there or whatever. 39:40How would you feel if the SEC were to just break off and go do their own thing Really How would you feel about it I will say I would Love it. I would jump up and down If now this week next week after they meet You know in May after SEC spring meetings and death to if they go Well, here's our path forward doing our own thing It means we will play each other Fine, that's what we're gonna do I will I will Celebrate it And everybody can throw things at me and talk about all the problems and all the issues it may cause down the road And I will absolutely celebrate it I hope that's the direction it goes

40:43To heck with the rest of if you think Especially from a big sports standpoint like like football if you think That the southeastern conference to survive and be successful as it pertains to its own fan base and everything else If you think they need to be locked at you know locked arms with the big 10 you're crazy they don't And if you think That somehow television viewership and that relationship would Be greatly diminished If they decide we're gonna break off do our own thing it wouldn't it wouldn't It may have to adjust, but it wouldn't and I just I would love to see you go that direction you can call me crazy I missed the text earlier today from hog jowl It kind of got buried down on the list of the text that came in so I'm going back to this
