He held steady on shorter kicks inside 50 yards but faltered on longer ones, going just 11 of 22 from beyond that range over two seasons. After his release, Gay bounced around last year, suiting up briefly for Washington and San Francisco. There he converted 17 of 23 field goals and nailed all 26 extra points, showing some reliability in limited action. Meanwhile, the Colts have moved on by bringing back Blake Group, who steadyed their kicking late last season. Group now figures to battle Spencer Schrader for the primary role in Indy.
