Marquez Tops Despite Crash, Chaos in US Grand Prix

Plenty of chaos, March Friday's practice sessions at the Moto GP United States Grand Prix, but all the top title contenders advanced straight to. Qualifying two? Mart Marquez topped the time sheets in the afternoon's session, despite crashing hard earlier in free practice, one and riding through some pain. The trouble started right away with Jorge Martin and Fabio de Gan Antonio, both hitting the gravel before completing a full lap. A sudden temperature jump made things worse, leading to more falls from Franco Morvedelli, Pedro Acosta, and Iogura in quick order. Riders shook off the incidents and ramped up late in the hour. Points leader Marco Bezeki set a strong benchmark time of two minutes and 1.267 seconds, but Marquez soon bettered it, dipping, under two minutes and one second with his best lap. The Gan Antonio fought back for second behind Iogura, while Alex Marquez grabbed fifth to sneak through comfortably.

1:01Martin landed sixth ahead of Francesco Bodnaya, with Luca Morini, 9th and Anaia Bostiani, taking the final direct spot in 10th. That sets up an intriguing Saturday, as Joan Mir, Ferman Aldeguer, and Raul Fernandez hit to qualifying one for their shot at progression.
