Marquette Athletes Shine on and Off Field

0:00On April 28th, Marquette University just wrapped up their annual Blue and Golden Globes Athletics banquet Sunday night at Discovery World in downtown Milwaukee. The big highlights were the Ralph H. Metcalf Senior Awards, the President's Award, and honors from the Student Athlete Advisory Committee. Women's the Cross Star, Hannah Bodner, snagged both the President's Award and the Top Female Athletic Award, while men's the Cross Standout, Peter Detweiler, took the male athletic honor. Bodner dominated as the 2025 Big East midfielder of the year, racking up over 100 career points and draw controls. Detweiler, a two-time captain, locked down defense like one of the best short-stick midfielders in the country, earning all America honorable mention, and heading pro with the Carolina chaos in the Premier LaCross League. The women's soccer team earned the Majest Spirit Cup for shining an academics, service and leadership. Seniors Aaron O'Keefe and Molly Kuiper got the Female Leadership and Service Award for

1:00organizing community events like 5Ks and cleanups. Men's track sprinter Justin Juniel picked up the male version, pushing advocacy through trips and committees. Academic standouts included Detweiler with a 3.9 GPA in Finance, landing a job at DT Investment Partners. Kate Downs from Soccer and Silvia Focicato from track both posted perfect 4.0 GPAs, would Downs staying on as a grad assistant and Focicato heading to Miami for Sports Law. Shout out to other SAAC picks, like Ricky of the year Nigel James Jr., and men's basketball and record breakers in track and field.
