The couple has been married for 45 years and raised three children fluent in Spanish, always emphasizing cultural preservation. Palmer co-founded a Spanish immersion daycare, called Mi Escoelita, and helped start dual language programs in local schools teaching Spanish and Mandarin, leading to success stories like former students now in medical school.
