Now back to Murphin Marcus on the sports leader streaming live on these sports leader dot com at KNBR the sports leader app Murphin Marcus is sponsored by Bigelow T grab a mug and T proudly I don't know what's gonna happen next but I love you guys to death thank you you always have we've lost games you've ended your season a lot of different ways and you've had those moments in the sideline where you go up and down and you know thank everybody for what they poured into the year but for it to start with that conversation in that moment it was definitely weird because we had spent the last all season but it really the last two weeks trying to hone on just the moment right now that we we had to extend our season and then all of a sudden you look up and times run out and I do appreciate the fact that he took that moment because regardless like we're human beings and we have to be able to acknowledge each other in that moment but I don't know if that's a signal of anything it's just we wanted to

appreciate what we have all poured into to this journey into the Warriors Marcus Thompson and Ben died to talk about this because I have a story that he and Nick Fidel wrote in on April 18 which is just five days ago and they asked all the questions about the Warriors Curry Dremon all that and they said bring back curve for a 13th season and the story says the signs continue to point to yes and yet this thing is changing day by day because here we are now five days later and I feel like and Marcus can tell say feel like maybe the winds have shifted and maybe the signs are pointing to no but then again I've been wrong a lot Marcus good morning how are you brother hey what's up Marcus what's going on homies well dude Steve Kerr's going on man so has it shifted in the last week did we go from Friday night in Phoenix hey man he's probably coming back to Thursday morning like yo he's probably not coming back nah I can't believe

y'all fall for the banana in the tailpipe I am falling I am falling they will talk about this in negotiation tactics at universities across the land this is yeah this a conversation needs to happen that conversation hasn't happened now I do think some of the stuff we're hearing like it's it's not new right like you just if you know anything about the Warriors you know they've been preparing for this idea that Steve might leave like he that's he was a lame duck right he went in with no contract you never know but until they sit down and have this conversation I think it is where it is right and in my mind 20 million dollars and Steph Curry is a lot to walk away from that's just a lot to walk away now Steve Kerr if anybody could do it it would be him like he's the one locket he said you know what I don't need none of this goodbye but it's still a lot to walk away from Marcus if the Warriors and Steve Kerr did

decide to go through with this diverse I should say do you think it would be more on Steve Kerr wanting to leave the organization or the organization want to move on from Steve Kerr you know I think these two are hand in hand right I think if if this happens it's because you know the Warriors front office has decided they wanted to do things a certain way and Steve is gonna say hey I don't want to do it that way I'm out so to me like those two kind of work hand in hand that if if the front office just decides we don't want to lose the four-time championship coach then they'd probably just act we yes so if they don't go this way that's them deciding you know what we're we're off Steve Kerr right we're we've done that we've tried it we're on to the next thing we need to we need to progress or events and I think that's the part where Steve Kerr is saying if that's what you want to do I'm not the coach for that okay so you're

leanin he comes back 20 million and Steph is a very powerful thing there's a lot of freaking warrior long-term long-range pieces being written talked about and all that they're a fascinating team so are you are you looking at this offseason as another reboot like people are pointing back to 2023 when you re-updream on and you trade Jordan pool and like that was like the launch of a window that didn't work coming a moody whatever I mean coming a dual timelines etc is this the start of a new window or are we still hanging on to the window after 2022 like where are they in the arc I mean if Steve Kerr stays it's the same window I think I don't think it's 2023 I think it's 2025 when did they get Jimmy Butler and sign them to two years that wasn't a one-year deal so Jimmy Butler's making fifty something million next year right and he tours ACL so that changes the perspective about next season but they they re up they

say let's go in for two more so and Steve is the one who wasn't aligned with that everybody else is aligned with that two-year plan so the question is do they abandon those the thing that they have you know and reboot or do they just they next year the last dance type of deal to me that I feel like they 2020 was a different deal than the one when they got Jimmy Butler Steph said the other day that he wants to play for a few more years sounds like there's a possibility of him signing a contract extension this summer so Marcus do you think we see that contract extension for Steph and does this situation with Steve Kerr have any impact on that happening yes it does have impact and yes we'll see Steph Kerr sign a contract extension I look Murf we've done this long enough to know that if you just follow the money you can go be right more than not and it's sixty million dollars that you can't get anywhere else so it's like okay do I take the sixty million and we know

Steph wants to finish a warrior right like that that just makes the most sense I do feel like he will use the absence of a contract ask some leverage like if Steve Kerr said hey I want to stay here Steph I need you I need you to work your magic then it'll be great if Steph is a pending free agent right like that that helps that call so I think in the end it he uses that leverage to have input on whether Steve stays on whether who replaces Steve like you know that type of thing because if it doesn't go how he wants he could just say I'm out and that would be like that's the nuclear option for the warriors he's a pretty simple to say that whatever Steph wants that's what's gonna happen I don't think so actually I was thinking about this and it didn't not happen what did he want it didn't happen I mean Mark Jackson Bob Myers Clay Thompson right like

he didn't want this stuff to happen he don't want these things to go and look what happened like he was very clear I think if the person tells Steph hey man this is what I really want right this is about this is what makes me happy this Steph will sacrifice what he wants you know he'll say all right well if that's best for you go do that there's no question in my mind that Steph wants to play for Steve Kerr but if Steve Kerr is like dude I can't do this anymore there's Steph will swallow it and play for another coach he's showing that track right here do you think Steph and Dremon would play for another coach here again I think if if 60 million and 30 million on a table they play for you yeah Mark is a good coach yeah come on man I'm phenomenal y'all said I'm my third good I'll be able to I do think Steve Kerr is the first domino and if they do

change it then I think the changes really come after that when you and I think the next one might be very well when you alluded to the negotiating tactics being taught in universities around the country did that start with Friday night the hug was that was oh yes that's an epic I like Steve Kerr is he's incredible the art of the Steve Kerr deal Vince Connays is redefining news talk with the Vince show it is a reflection of your response to this program that we get to take this thing to the next level these gigantic shows this is going to be so much fun it's unbelievable in depth interviews live collar interactions and a front row seat to the most important conversations of the day I've got updates I've got big stories we'll sort through the truth of what's really going on to buckle up here it comes the Vince show following listen on your favorite platform and then like his Friday night was like hey man I have an expiration date you know I mean I was like you know I was like sort of at war with like yeah I know he wants to be

with Steph and everything but and then you the leak that he's talking to media these are all this is all part of the plan is what you're saying and it's not I'm just saying here's my sinister mind Steve Kerr is like how do I let them know like it's going to be all bad if you lose me right let me let me give you a dose of what that's going to feel like and here you are chaos everywhere all these coaches so hot golden Mike Brown like it's it's just chaos now everybody's like what's happening you know this is it this is like how you do it this is how I would do it this is it that's a matter of fact yeah yeah athletics should I'm telling you right now when it gets to my time I'm gonna find a video I'm a hug a couple employees and say man if this is it I love y'all thank you oh man that's it Marcus and I we're gonna actually young Tony's last day is tomorrow we might do that and I recreate the hug man except for he's really leaving instead of Kerr man oh man all right well listen you've you've laid it out you think and we don't know about a timeline do we somebody said by the end of this

week they're gonna meet I'm there's no like I do think it's I do think it's coming up like I know Steve wanted to get away you could just tell also you know I'm just saying and go change your tactics you make them sweat a little bit oh man oh man watch watch I end up wrong about this is Steve is like I'm out but I'm just in here like this is so good if if it's just a negotiation tactic or if he's like you know playing hardball I I need to see a movie about this with John Hammett it's gonna say whatever Steve Kerr is doing is working right now because here we are on NFL draft a talking about the future of Steve Kerr but Marcus before he lets you go any thoughts on what the 49ers will do tonight with pick number 27 in the draft select the Y receiver with the first round it won't work how about that well they've done that we've done that you've been on that road that pre-dated even this administration my gosh hey hey Devon Booker calling out the refs to say and it's WWE the flop

in the fake in the calls I mean first of all that check's gonna be large they writes the NBA right but second of all I mean he's had it with the the thunder in the flop and I mean look something got to be done about this like it just does it is getting like soccer right you know English primarily soccer where the guy's down and he's riding on the ground and in 30 seconds later he's fine yeah like just the gamesmanship it gets to the point where it could just be a little bit like ridiculous to the audience and the thing that kills the refs is the replay some of the stuff in fast motion you can get but then when you when you slow it down right and put it in AK it's like and they don't have the ability to always fix that so you know they're the push offs is number one like Steve Kerr is right about that the offensive ability to just push you you know and if you if you straight the elbow it's a foul but if you don't it's okay that's ridiculous they've just got to do something about the blatant

gamesmanship uh for what did we just see somebody get hit for a flop in check I was like that that's the first time I've seen that like five years that were supposed to penalize this and they don't so maybe they could start doing that but he's right and I do think it was it wasn't a coincidence that it was on ESPN and ESPN has been pushing the WWE so I think Booker has been sitting around watching this like is this our is this what our league is becoming WrestleMania hey man don't forget the whole the year started with that scandal that we nobody's talking about all the shave points and all that and there was a kind of mood nothing to see here move on so Booker bringing back the world WWE made me think about that all right well listen your bet is in and you hey listen you have a track record around here man Katie out is one of the iconic sound bites in the last 10 years in KBR so you right now Sam Steve is just being crazy in is that what you doing Steve's are in there it is that's it we I needed I needed you to say it so we could cut it man I'm Marcus I'm a good one man take care all right there you go Cody I

gave it to you and for your successor whoever's gonna be on the board Steve Kerr in all right he there was a lot of smoke in a lot of fire Marcus brings that veteran perspective and he just squashed that story we said you see you got to you get to be around Steph Curry and make 20 million I mean he makes a pretty airtight argument why would you go away from Steph Curry in 20 million so it's a great argument yeah just to put up a social media hit yeah I don't think he logs on and looks I mean I mean if young Tony was making 20 million a year he'd probably stay with us too there it is but there it is we can't afford him I bet all the comments I posted on Facebook an old man Facebook and young man Insta and Twitter and the people are writing pay young tone they're saying pay the man can we start a go fund me account to keep Tony as our board off is Tony doing all this as a Steve Kerr negotiating I think it is man young Tony's in all right guys here's the deal young Tony out we'll finish with a little 49er football Branson Buckner was a great D line man he's a fun dude they're got the Dwight Clark event coming up so that'll be a fun conversation and and then this is it man second to last day come on young tone as Dwayne Kuiper
