Manchester Seeks Local Leaders for £80M Funding

0:00On March 10th, Manchester is launching a search for local leaders to guide 80 million pounds in new government funding across four neighborhoods over the next 10 years. This Pride and Place program will deliver 20 million pounds to each selected area, announced earlier this year to help shape community futures. The chosen spots include Benchell South and Withenshaugh Central, Clayton Vale covering parts of Clayton, Open Shaw, Newton Heath, and Miles Platting. Gordon South with areas like Longsite, Gordon, Abbey Hay, and Levin Showme, plus Harper Heath South and Monsaw, including bits of Harperhee, Moston, and Cromsaw. These independent community chairs will head up new neighborhood boards, building on recent talks with residents about what matters most, ensuring diverse voices drive the spending decisions. Applications open on February 28th and close on March 29th, targeting trusted locals who live or work there, value diversity, and commit time to engagement and collaboration.
