Manchester's Eid-al-Fitr Celebration Cancelled, Funfair Continues

0:00On March 19th, a major outdoor e-dow fitter celebration in Manchester's Platefields Park has been called off due to soggy ground from a very wet winter. Organizers and the city council say the park just can't handle the hundreds of cars that would need to get in for the big communal gathering. The good news is the fun fair is still happening in the park from noon to 6 p.m. Greenwich mean time on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and they're already teaming up to bring Edaw Ahtha to the same spot this May. Organizers had seen this coming with the early date after such a rainy season so they looked at the nearby sports complex as a backup but limited parking there for all the expected crowds and vehicles made it unworkable and they wanted to avoid any hassle for locals.
