My idiotic manager literally micromanages me all the time, as they not only interfere with the tables that I'm serving, but they also force me to give up my tables so that they can take over, putting me in a situation that honestly feels completely unreasonable. Because right now I seriously just don't know what to do. Here's what's going on. Okay, so I work at a small independent restaurant, which is owned and run by someone who did not have a whole lot of restaurant experience before they open their own. It's the typical behavior from someone who thinks that they're the boss and that therefore they're the smartest person in the room and that they're the best. There's been a lot of staff turnover due to this person's lack of both personal respect and professionalism. Now with that in mind, this is my main issue. Most nights, it's simply that they approach tables in interfere while I'm providing service. If this were just a table touch situation, it wouldn't be an issue, but this person will intervene while I'm speaking to the table. They'll disrupt the conversation, often take over, and many times also make passive-aggressive comments about the job that I'm doing. For example, they'll point out if I served a drink in a different glass than they would have preferred.

And this is without ever actually explaining which glass that is to me beforehand. And yes, they do this in front of customers. They explain that they feel that they should because I either clearly don't know what I'm doing, or they don't think I'm selling hard enough and squeezing the largest possible check out of every table. Now, I need to clarify because when I said most nights, sometimes it goes way further. On one night, this person decided in the middle of my shift, in the middle of service, to take over my section themselves. I had five tables seated at the time, and everyone was completely happy. This was not about my performance. It was solely because they changed their mind on where I would be most effective. I thought at first they were joking when they demanded I stop and give them a status report on my tables. But when I finally had a minute to stop doing actual serving, they then took over for me and moved me to another area of the floor entirely. This not only caused confusion for the kitchen, it annoyed several of the guests with whom I had started to develop a rapport with. And they were not happy about the abrupt change, mid-meal. In fact, one of my tables all but refused to engage with them, which then forced me to go and finish out their service,

since they seemed to like me and not them. And they honestly just couldn't figure out why. This micromanaging, hovering, and interrupting and intervening, has only gotten worse with time. So seriously, has anyone ever been in this kind of situation? I mean, is this normal to begin with? Because right now I don't know what to do. Oh my gosh, this is literally like making my skin crawl because I had a manager like this, and it was the worst experience on earth. Dude, you gotta get out of there. I'm serious. I don't normally say that on this channel, but holy crap, this is not a place you're ever gonna find longevity. You are always gonna be at this person's mercy. They're always gonna be micromanaging you, and I guarantee you, you will never get it right. It doesn't matter if they write down everything they want you to do, and you do it exactly as written. They will still find reasons to throw you under the bus, and in front of customers at that. And by the way, the lack of professionalism from these people is absolutely appalling. I don't care if they're the owner or not. It is so disrespectful to talk to your employees like that, and be like, um, you're using the wrong glass, get it right, or even to be like, sorry, I'm taking over. It's like, dude, I'm getting tips out of this,

and I'm making a living over here. You're not taking my tables. Like, that's what I would say if I was in your shoes, and someone tried that crap with me because, absolutely not. I'd rather get fired and find a better job, which wouldn't be hard considering what you described, than to have some idiot take over my work that literally doesn't need taking over. Like, you described it best. You said, everybody's happy, and no one's complaining. So there's no reason for this person to take over at all. I don't know if they were like jealous because you're doing well, or something like that, but like, seriously, what's going on right now? Like, it almost seems like they're trying to steal your tips, or something like that. I don't know, it kinda seems sketchy, and I would be very pissed off if this was me. And this is the kind of person who will not only micro-manage you, but they will probably eventually fire you. Like, you mentioned earlier that there's a lot of employee turnover, but like, this is the reason. They are literally the reason why the restaurant will never grow, and it will always be looking for new employees to fill their stupid roles. Because they want to be both the manager and the main worker at the same time. Instead of, you know, like, delegating the responsibility like anybody else, do they have to do everything in the restaurant? Like, come on. So, in my opinion, I would jump ship immediately.

I would start looking for a new job tonight. Like, there's no way I'm gonna put up with that. Because as someone who has put up with that for far longer than I should have, my life got so much better the second I left that place. And I guarantee the original poster will feel the exact same way as soon as they get away from these idiots. If you like Am I the Jerk, you're probably going to love Am I the Genius. All because he refuses to get a new key to the apartment after his key broke when he was using it. Because right now, I'm still very pissed off and very annoyed and I just don't know what to do. Here's what's going on. I'm a 22 year old female and I live with my ex-boyfriend. We moved in together in February, but broke up shortly afterwards. Because he was a lot different to live with compared to how we would visit each other's apartments beforehand. Now, at around March or April, his key broke. And thankfully, it didn't get stuck in the lock and we have both pieces of the key. Also, it shouldn't cost anything to let the rental company know

and get a new key because the key wasn't lost. Meaning that they didn't have to re-key the entire apartment. I let him know that this was his responsibility because it was his key. Well, as you can probably guess, he has not done anything to contact the rental company. He refuses to call businesses due to anxiety and also just hasn't contacted them through email or the service portal on the website. We live in a safe neighborhood, but I prefer to lock the doors, especially at night because you never know. Now, over the summer, I worked at internship and I mainly lived in another city. So, I was nice and I gave him my key during that time. But now that I'm back home, I took my key back and I decided I was done catering to him. In the four weeks I've been back, I've locked him out at least six times. I locked that door at night at around 9 o'clock PM after I get home from work and when I leave the apartment, whether or not he is there. I've been woken up past midnight in a few occasions because he was locked out while on a date. Now, I thought if I was more serious about the consequences of him not getting a new key then he would finally just do it. But I'm now debating keeping him locked out the whole night and refusing to wake up and let him in.

He knows that I'm upset about this. And all my friends agree that it might be the push he needs to be a more responsible adult, but I honestly feel bad about going through with it. It is still warm outside, so staying out in the weather isn't that big of an issue. His parents also live an hour away. So, it's not like he has nowhere to stay if I did this. I've honestly struggled with standing my ground my whole life and I can't tell if this will be an overreaction and just going too far. At the same time, I'm sick and tired of not locking the door at night or when no one is home. And I don't think it's my responsibility to cater to his schedule and disrupt my own whenever he needs to be let into the apartment. What should I do? Okay, first of all, you need to understand that this guy is an adult and he literally can't be like, hey, my key broke, can I get a new one? Like, that's all he needs to do, like, what's going on right now? The original poster also says that they can't like legally make a copy of their key, but I know for a fact if I was in their shoes I'd be like, okay, I'm gonna get a new copy regardless. I don't really care. Like, sure, it's legally binding for you but it's not for me to say that, so like, that's what I would do if I was in your shoes. And obviously if that would get you in trouble then don't do that, but like, I can only speak for myself. But seriously, this guy's crippling anxiety

is preventing him from literally getting in and out of the apartment. So in my opinion, I don't think you're the jerk at all because I would absolutely do the same thing. This is so stupid. The fact that he's not willing to do this is so annoying and it's honestly not your responsibility in the slightest. My mother-in-law is literally trying to ruin my marriage by spreading rumors about me and getting all up in my business. And at this point I'm sick of it and I just don't know what to do. Here's how it's all going down. Okay, to start things out, I've been married to my husband for 11 years and we've been together for about 16. His mother has never been my biggest fan and I know that. I'm everything that she absolutely hates. I don't have a college degree, I have sleeve tattoos, pink hair and facial piercings. And I think he'd get the idea of what I'm talking about. My husband is not as extreme as me, but he does have a half sleeve and a chest piece. He works a great job and has been successful. Meanwhile, I'm self-employed and I also work for my local college as a motorcycle instructor. Now I learned a while back that my mother-in-law is not a safe person to talk around and I had mentioned that I was mad at my mother for not wanting to watch both of my kids at once. For reference, I have a four-year-old boy and a nine-year-old daughter

and my youngest can be a handful. Well, my daughter came home from school one day crying, saying that her cousin had told her that my mom hated my son and did not want to be around him and some other hateful things. Now the only person I'd spoken to about this situation was my mother-in-law, who had just happened to have my niece a couple of weeks prior. And this is something I have not addressed with my mother-in-law. But on Monday, I found out that she was making comments about me being selfish and saying that I would just end up breaking my husband's heart. And I just don't know where this is coming from. I've been sick a lot this year and struggling with some issues. And while I will admit I have slacked off on some house duties, for her to say that is just really hurtful. My husband loves me and I love him a lot. And he of course defended me, but like why on earth does she feel the need to make such comments? In fact, how do I even approach this in the first place? Do I cut her off? Because honestly, I'm sick of it. She's the type to nitpick every aspect of our lives and the way that I raise my children. I'm honestly so over it and this is not even the first time she's overstepped and I'm sure it won't be the last. She makes it habit to talk crap about everyone constantly

with the exception to my sister-in-law, who in her eyes is perfect and has the perfect family. What should I do? Okay, first of all, I really hope you never tell her anything ever again. Because it's pretty obvious she's going to try and ruin your life and use all of that against you by spreading rumors. But also, I really think your husband needs to step in and be like, Mom, you need to stop. You can't talk to my wife like that anymore. Like this is crazy. Because that in my opinion is the first thing that really should be happening here. Because this behavior is absolutely disgusting and you should not have to deal with that in the slightest. My entitled boss tried to steal my idea and pass it off as his own that he literally shot down when I presented it to him. So as a result, I decided to get some revenge. By quite literally exposing him for the liar that he is. Here's what happened. So I was working at a mid-size marketing agency where ideas get tossed around in meetings all the time. I spent a full week preparing a presentation about a new campaign strategy. When I pitched it in a team meeting, my boss shot it down immediately, saying that it wasn't in line with what the client wanted. Well, fast forward a week later and I'm sitting in on a client meeting.

And it's here that my boss presents my exact strategy. The same slogans, the same layout, even the same examples that I used. Now I didn't say anything, but I kept all my drafts and the timestamped emails. And you know what, the client absolutely loved the pitch. A few days later, they emailed me directly asking for help, clarifying some parts. But that's when I carefully forwarded them my original draft, clearly dated before my boss ever even brought it up. I didn't accuse him outright. I just said, here's my early draft that might help out. Well, the client called me privately and offered me a role with him in-house. Better pay, better hours. And I report directly to their vice president of marketing themselves. And you know what, I took it. And as a result, my ex-boss had to explain to upper management, why we lost one of our biggest accounts, and why his employee walked out mid-project. And honestly, it was incredibly sweet because my boss absolutely deserved this. Dude, I can't stand when people steal other people's ideas. It's pretty similar to when you do like a group project in college. And there's always that one person who literally did nothing the entire time. Like, that is so obnoxious and it just ruins pretty much everything you're trying to do.

So I just love the fact that you got back at this guy by being like, oh yeah, you mean my idea that you pitched? Yeah, here's my earlier draft that my boss literally shot down. Hopefully, this helps you figure things out. And then for that client to be like, hey, you want to work for us? Like, that's just so beautiful and just so good. Like, I love that so much. So good for you for standing up for yourself because you absolutely deserve to get credit for this. Am I the jerk for telling my friend that her making jokes about the cost of her home sounds incredibly spoiled and very disconnected? Because my friend is super rich while I am definitely not. And at this point, I'm not sure if I'm in the wrong. Here's how it all went down. Okay, so I have been best friends with my friend who we will call Emma for about two years now. We're both 17 year old females and we met at a community service volunteer event for animals. And to put it bluntly, we are pretty much the opposite in terms of finances. Her family in short is very wealthy and I'm talking extremely wealthy. Seven figures a year, multiple properties. I mean, she's set for life if she wants it. I, on the other hand, am in a below average income family. And we have had issues with power, water, and bills and all sorts of stuff.

I go to free public school while Emma goes to private. Now, she's generally a really great person. We have lots of fun together and we hang out almost all the time. My family treats her as her own and her family does the same to me. Now, the only issue I've ever had with her was that she acts broke. Her and her driver will come to pick me up and will go to eat and she'll say something like, oh, I'm not going to order anything, I'm too broke. Or she'll say things like, oh, I wish I had to work and contribute like you have to. As if this is something to dream out. She acts like me having to work to help my family survive is a dream. Now, I never liked that she acted like she got it because she doesn't and she never will. It's a struggle that she will never understand. In fact, the other day, she picked me up and in the car, she picked up a call from her father. She told him that the university she's applying to needs proof of his finances to see that he can't afford it. Well, he made a joke saying, can't we just look at this house? I mean, it costs three million dollars. But, Dad, that's our neighborhood. Everyone's house has cost three million dollars there. And when she said that, that really just rub me the wrong way. I told her that makes her sound spoiled. And if she wants to be so much like me and understand the struggle,

she wouldn't be able to make this joke. Well, she kind of went quiet after that. And now has been replying to me kind of dry. So, seriously, am I the jerk? It's very possible I just got angry and blew up. But I also kind of feel justified in what I said. What should I do? Okay, in my opinion, I think the original poster absolutely is a jerk because this was really uncalled for. Your friend literally didn't do anything wrong. And if anything, they've been really kind to you. Her family likes you, she likes you, and then you turn around all because of jealousy and snappeter, simply because her family's rich. Like, I totally get that you're jealous because that's absolutely how this reads. But there's no reason to put someone down simply because they made a comment to their dad on the phone. Like, come on, that was really rude if you think about it. So, yeah, I do think the original poster is the jerk and they definitely should be apologizing in my opinion. My landlord is the most irresponsible person I've ever dealt with in my life. As we had to constantly deal with our power, our water, and our internet services being shut off all the time. But the final straw was when the police came in with a search warrant, where they searched our apartment looking for our landlord, putting me in my roommate in a position where we decided we were going to move out and move on.

Here's how it all went down. Okay, so finding affordable housing where I live is nearly impossible. So, when my roommate and I finally managed to secure an apartment through an acquaintance, we were thrilled. It felt like a huge relief, even though the rent was higher than what we could comfortably afford. Because the rent included utilities and internet, we convinced ourselves it was worth it and decided to overlook a few glaring red flags. Well, it didn't take long before the problem started. The first time was when our electricity was cut off. Not because of us, but because our landlord had not paid the bill. We spent five days without power, which also meant we lost everything in the fridge. Legally, this meant we were not required to pay rent for those days, but when we pointed this out, our landlord flat out refused to reimburse us. And taking him to court would cost more time and money than simply letting it go. Then it happened again. The heating was cut off in November. After that, the internet began getting cut off every month. And eventually, we just started paying the internet provider directly, just to ensure that we had stable connection. Through all of this, we never once failed to pay our rent on time. The problem was our landlord. He simply was not passing it on.

The final straw came when the police showed up at our apartment with a search warrant in his name. They searched the entire place, even barging in on me while I was taking a shower. And that was the moment we knew that we had to leave. In truth, we had decided long before to move out, but finding a new place in this market was incredibly difficult. We did give him notice and we sent him a text message with our departure date and requested a walkthrough and asked about exchanging the keys and the deposit. We also mailed a formal letter to his legally registered address. And yes, this is an actual thing in Germany where we live. And wouldn't you guess it? Of course, his registered address was our apartment. In the letter, we included documentation of the utility cuts and the police search as grounds for breaking the contract. Well, he never responded. Not to our text messages, not to our mail. We got no call, literally nothing. Essentially, he ghosted us. We already knew that we would never see our deposit again. I mean, clearly, he's not great with money. So we left. There was no rotting food in the fridge and no shrimp in a lamp, but we didn't bother to clean up either. But it's here where the petty revenge really kicks in. After months of being ignored,

after being left without heat, power, and internet, and after the drama of the police walking through our place and us walking away, he is now the one desperately texting us daily, begging to know if we're going to pay rent. Pleaning for us to respond. He even asked for us if we could scan his important mail that is still arriving to our old address. Well, if ghosting is the game that he wants to play, then we are more than happy to play along with him, because this guy was a complete jerk and he is getting exactly what he deserves. Okay, I'll say this once and I'll say this again. If you're a landlord, there's no reason to act like this. And that is wishful thinking, but oh my gosh, this apparently just happens all the time to people. I'm thankful to have landlords that don't treat me like that because that would be a nightmare to deal with. Like, these people had their internet cut off. Their power cut off. They had the police walk in on them when they're like literally trying to like take a shower. Like, oh my gosh, I would be so pissed off if that was me. So honestly, with all things considered, I'm so glad that you did respond to this guy because this is the least you can do for him. He clearly took advantage of you guys and obviously did not respect the fact that you were paying for his bills. And now that the shoes on the other foot, it's honestly so great to see that he's panicking

because just like the original poster said, this guy absolutely deserves it. And I had the jerk for refusing to move my roommate's dishes whenever I do my dishes. Because after she put this off for so long and after using way too much of my dish soap, I not only have gotten really pissed off at her, but I've also decided to hide the dish soap that I use simply because I don't want her using it anymore. And at this point, I don't know if I'm justified or if anything I'm doing makes any sense. And I now just don't know what to do. Here's what's going on. Okay, so yesterday night, I apparently committed the cardinal sin of wanting to wash my dishes. I washed a bowl I had used for fruit loops and a plate that I had used for dinner. The plate was fairly greasy since I had mac and cheese and ox tail for dinner. And there was still milk left in the cereal bowl when I washed it. As I approached the sink, I noticed that my roommate had left a dinner bowl, a cup, and a fork in the sink. I didn't touch any of those items and I just washed my own stuff. I didn't notice at the time, but apparently me washing my stuff left a greasy film and discolored water sitting in my roommate's stuff, which she would come to find out this morning. Well, she confronted me about this no less than an hour ago

and said that next time if I wanted to wash something and her dishes were in the sink, the proper thing to do would be to move them. And by the way, she used this incredibly condescending tone as if she was speaking to a child. But I told her I had no intention or desire to even touch her stuff and that I wouldn't be doing that. For context, we had talked about leaving dishes in the sink among other things about a week ago and I did relay my feelings on that to her. But seriously, I don't care as long as it doesn't stink and it doesn't block what I need to do. And I just don't know how one takes that to mean that I'm obligated to touch someone else's dirty dishes and somehow move them before cleaning my own as well. I don't care what happens to your dishes and if you leave them in the sink, then you must not either. We then drop the issue after some back and forth and she goes to wash her stuff in the sink. I keep a larger bottle of dawn by the sink and for reference, it is the only dish soap brand that I use which I also mentioned during our conversation. I mean, I even remember jokingly stating that it's kind of a pain in the bud because it is more expensive than other dish soaps out there. We agreed to alternate purchasing it when it runs out but I had bought this one in particular.

So what does she do? She absolutely loads the sponge with soap. I'm talking, I watch her put a full layer of dawn onto the surface of the sponge before running it under the water so most of it just goes down the drain anyways. I asked if she uses that much every time and she just shrugged and said that she needs to use that much to combat the grease and muck left on her stuff. I didn't comment after that but after she was done, I took the bottle straight into my room. So basically the agreement we had can suck it. She hasn't noticed yet but there's bound to be a blowout when she does. So seriously, am I the jerk here? Is there some sort of unspoken dish washing rule that says you should move someone else's stuff before washing your own dishes? And should I have left the dish so buy the sink? Because right now I'm still pissed off and I just don't know what to do. Okay, I can confidently say that every single person in this story sucks. The original poster sucks by being super petty and taking the dishes and also literally taking everything to heart. Like, come on man, it's not that serious. I just don't know why you're getting so offended and like choosing to pick out all the things that she's saying. You're sitting there trying to be like, oh yeah, she is a really condescending tone. Like they're talking to a child.

And like sure, maybe she did, but look at the way you're acting. You're literally hiding the dish soap in your room all because she used too much of it. But on the other hand, the roommate sounds insufferable as well. They sound just as obnoxious as the original poster, in my opinion. So while I definitely think you're the jerk, I also think your roommate sucks as well. Because this is not that serious to get this pissed off about. And the fact that you want to be petty and hide the soap, in my opinion is just incredibly petty and so unnecessary. When you subscribe, make sure to hit the bell to turn on notifications.
