Man Shot Dead in Southwest Birmingham

0:00This is Birmingham News Today, every story, every city, every day. A 64-year-old man has been named as the victim in a Southwest Birmingham homicide over the weekend. Stanley Arnold Collier was found shot inside his home and pronounced dead at 4.45 pm on Saturday. Police quickly ruled it a homicide after arriving on scene. Offices were called to the house shortly after 6.30 pm, where a family member directed them to the body. That same family member, a 61-year-old relative, was detained right there and is now held in Birmingham City, jail. This marched the ninth homicide in Birmingham this year, and the second in just 48 hours. Just two days earlier on Thursday, a 23-year-old man was shot and killed in the city's Kingston area. The Jefferson County Corners office says it's still unclear exactly when Collier was killed, as the investigation continues. No charges have been announced yet against the detained family member.
