Man Harasses Labour MP on Women's Rights

0:00On April 21st, a 47-year-old man from Gloucester named Lee Owens just pleaded not guilty to stalking and harassing Jess Phillips, the labor, MP, who's now the minister tackling violence against women and girls. This all went down at Cheltenham Magistrate's Court earlier this week. Prosecutors say between July 10th and 14th last year, Owens bombarded her with 94 aggressive, threatening, and obsessive emails, some, touching on the grooming gang scandals. That volume caused her serious distress and mess with her daily life, big time. Phillips couldn't even handle her ministerial duties because of it, and it spilled over into family problems too. She's been a fierce advocate for women's rights since entering parliament in 2015. After years building support services for abuse and trafficking victims at women's aid. Earlier this year, Owens already denied a similar harassment charge over 31 emails he sent her back in late January, and he chose to take that. To Gloucester Crown Court 2, his next appearance there is set for May 19th.
