Man Denies Manslaughter in Wife's Suicide

0:00On March 12, a court in England is hearing the case against Christopher Trivis, accused of manslaughter in the suicide death of his wife, Taran, bared back in November 2017. She was 34 when she died by hanging at their home in Swindon. The 43-year-old also faces charges of controlling and coercive behavior, plus two counts of rape from late 2016. Earlier this week, jurors listened to testimony from bared's close friend, Elizabeth Clarke, whom she met while working together at an optics company. Clarke described how the two women bonded and stayed in touch, especially as Bared opened up about troubles at home, starting in early 20, 17. Bared shared texts, revealing her husband had snapped and hurt her badly enough for hospital trips and bruises she showed her friend. She felt constantly watched, had to explain her time away from home, and once asked Clarke for an alibi, after he tracked her to the hospital. Clarke noted Bared tried reaching out for help, like asking about shelter spots, but broke down and couldn't leave.

1:00She seemed drained and defeated, using alcohol to cope with the pain from beatings. The trial at Winchester Crown Court goes on, with Trivis denying everything amid claims his actions drove her to that tragic end.
