Man Charged in Sinn Fein Official's Murder

0:00On March 30th, a man in his 40s named Antoine Duffy faces charges for the murder of ex-sin feign official Dennis Donaldson, gunned down in County, Donnegall back in April 2006. Duffy, who's got no fixed address, got extra-dited from Scotland on a European arrest warrant and arrested at a military airfield near Dublin earlier. This week, he's also charged with the legal possession of a shotgun in ammo tied to that killing. Dennis Donaldson had shocked everyone months before by confessing he'd been a secret agent for police and MI5 for over 20 years, putting a huge target on his back in a tense time for Irish politics. On top of the murder count, Duffy's hit with attempt in murder charges from November 2007, again in Donnegall, with the same kind of weapon. Judges remanded him in custody at Dublin Special Criminal Court, with his next in-person hearing set for April 13th. He's got legal aid too, so this saga's just heating up.
