Man Charged in Prison Murder of Soham Killer

0:00On March 11th, a 43-year-old man named Anthony Russell faces murder charges after the death of Ian Huntley at HMP Franklin near Durham. Huntley, who was 52, died from injuries in an assault that happened in the prison workshop. Russell appeared in Newton-Acliffe, magistrate's court, via video link earlier this week. He confirmed his name and understood his next hearing would be a Newcastle Crown Court the following day. Huntley had a notorious past convicted in 2003 for killing 10-year-old girls Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman and Soham, Cambridgeshire. Back in 2002, he got two life sentences for luring the girls from a barbecue and dumping their bodies in a ditch. Emergency services rushed to the prison on the morning of February 26th after reports of the attack. Huntley made it to the hospital but passed away on March 7th. Just continue their investigation as Russell awaits his next court date, shedding new light on life inside one of Britain's toughest prisons.
