Man Charged After Car Plows Into Pedestrians in Derby

0:00On April 1st, a 36-year-old man from Derby faces serious charges after a car plowed into pedestrians and during seven people outside a pub on, Friar Gate. Sandhu Panachan, who lives on Cherry Close in Alveston, got hit with dangerous driving, six counts of causing Grievous bodily harm with intent. 1. Count of attempted Grievous bodily harm, and possession of a bladed article. This all went down around 9.30 p.m. on Saturday when his black Suzuki Swift mounted the sidewalk near the Bishop Blaze, hurting four men and three women aged 36-52. Police nabbed him just seven minutes later, and counter-terrorism folks helped with the probe, though it's not being called terrorism. Chief Superintendent Emma Aldrid said the crash rocked the whole community, sending shockwaves everywhere, and her team's thoughts are with the victims and families. Four of the injured have already left the hospital, and none of the wounds are life-threatening. Panachan's remanded in custody and heads to Southern Derbyshire Magistrate's court today.
