Man Beaten with Hockey Stick Seeks Harsher Sentence

0:00On April 16th, a 72-year-old man named Martin Dandridge got beaten with a hockey stick by horse trainer Evan Williams while walking his dog. On his own land, this happened at night in Longcar Fan back in December 2024. Williams, who's 54, broke Dandridge's arm in the attack. Just as Tuesday, a court handed Williams three years in prison for grievous bodily harm with intent. The jury nailed Williams guilty last month at Cardiff Crown Court. The judge called it an appalling offense, saying he chose to race over and take the law into his own hands instead of calling police. Dandridge says that moment sticks with him. He truly thought he was going to die, feeling totally helpless. He's dealing with ongoing pain in his left forearm and hand, plus mental scars that changed who he is. Now Dandridge calls the three-year sentence, Unduly-Linion, pointing to the weapon used and the serious injuries. He's challenging it through the Attorney General's Unduly-Linion sentence scheme.
