Mak Regan on Balancing Ultra Training with Life and Avoiding Overtraining

Everyday Ultra

About this episode

As endurance athletes, it’s easy for life to get out of hand. Scheduling and prioritizing is a huge challenge with all the parts of life that goes on.  For Mak Regan, balance was key while training for her High Lonesome 100 miler finish and wedding planning. Mak is an ultra runner, obstacle course racer, content creator, PhD student, and chemical engineer so finding balance in it all is crucial in the training process. Super stoked to have Mak back on the pod to discuss lessons learned from her thru-hike of the Colorado Trail, High Lonesome 100, and recently getting engaged. In this episode, Mak shares about prioritizing the important things in life to make sure you’re not spreading yourself too thin while training, how to avoid overtraining, and why sleep and eating are the two things that you cannot mess up.
