Luke Adams: Brewers Prospect, Master of Getting Hit

Milwaukee Brewers' prospect Luke Adams has made a name for himself by getting hit by pitches more than almost anyone in the minors. The 21-year-old infielder has been planted 87 times in 283 games since being drafted in the 12th roundout of high school. That's a lot, especially his career high of 40 in 101 games last year at High A-Ball. Adams follows in the footsteps of former Brewers, like Marcana, who also took their lumps to get on base. He admits it hurts, especially in the shiner face, but he leans into pitches at the knee or side if it means a free pass. His sharp eye helps too, with 213 walks against 260 strikeouts over his career. Manager Pat Murphy loves Adams' plate discipline and compares him to a young Paul Goldschmidt. The 6-foot-4, 233-pound slugger, has hit 11 home runs each of the last three seasons and shows solid defense at third-hand, first base.

1:00Adams just wants to play wherever they need him. Now in Big League Spring Camp for the first time, Adams has played 10 games, batting 143 with 5 walks for a 368 on base. Percentage, he started at third first and has designated hitter and made some nice plays in the field despite some early struggles. With infield depth thin due to the World Baseball Classic, Adams should stick around camp longer before heading to double A or eventually triple A.
