Love

About this episode

Scientism has led many people to think love can be measured in percentages 20 percent to the job, 20 percent to the spouse, 20 percent to the children but Scripture exposes this as both foolish and morally distorted. God commands us to love Him with all our heart, soul, and might, and Jesus affirms that only by giving God all our love do we gain the capacity to love others rightly. When God has first place, sinful self-love dies, and genuine love for our family, our work, and all God’s gifts flourishes. True love isn’t a divided pie chart; it is a single wholehearted devotion to the Lord that overflows into every relationship. Only then do we stop treating our loved ones like contestants on a scoring chart and start loving them in the light of God’s Word.

0:00CR101radio.com Podcast and more. 27. Love One of the problems created by scientism is a belief that everything can be measured and viewed quantitatively. For example, a common complaint in the part of some wives or their husbands is, you love your work or the children or this and that more than you love me. Can this be true? Is it possible for us to give 50% of our love to our job, 20% to our wife, 20% to our children, and so on down the line? The best that can be said for this idea is that it's stupid, even more, it's morally perverse. Scripture tells us, Why shall love the Lord I God with all thine heart and with all thy soul and with all thy might? Deuteronomy 6.5 Our Lord confirmed this commandment, Matthew 22.37

1:01He does mean thereby that all our love being given to God cannot float towards our family or our work on the contrary. He tells us that we lose both life and love if we don't give the Lord priority. Matthew 10.32.39 By giving all our love to God, we cease from sinful self-love and become capable of loving all of blessings God gives us. In other words, by giving all our love with all our being to the Lord, we are there by able to give all our love also to all that the Lord blesses us with, our work, our family and our loved ones. We don't then read our loved ones as if they were contenders on a hit parade depending on how they please us. Loving God, we love all that he gives us in terms of his word.
