Louise Minchin's Arctic Cycling Challenge: Frostbite & Support

0:00On March 22nd, BBC presenter Louise Minchin ended up in the hospital with frostbite after a tough Arctic cycling challenge. She was aiming to bike 300 miles over three days in Canada's Northwest Territories to raise funds for the Duke of Edinburgh's award. Teaming up with endurance athlete Mimi Anderson, they pushed through brutal conditions but had to stop early when the weather turned too dangerous. The pair managed about 140 kilometers in temperatures dropping to minus 40 degrees. The wind made it even worse, despite all their prep work. They knew continuing could be deadly, so they pulled out and sought medical help right away. Friends and colleagues rallied around Minchin with messages of support, Helen Skeleton called it an impressive achievement so far. Gabi Roselin urged her to take care, and Susanna Reed sent big hugs. The outpouring from fans has been huge too. From her hospital bed, Minchin shared a video update, saying they're both dealing with frostbite, but getting top-notch care.
