London Police Arrest 20 in Antisemitic Hate Crimes

0:00On April 9, London's Metropolitan Police just arrested more than 20 people on suspicion of anti-Semitic hate crimes, wrapping up after that arson, attack on Jewish community ambulances last month. On March 23, four vehicles from the Hotsula service in Golders Green got torched, sparking explosions from gas canisters inside and causing 1 million pounds in damage. Three young guys spaced charges for that arson, 20-year-old Hamza Ikbal and 19-year-old Rayhan Khan from Layton, plus a 17-year-old from Walthamstow. They're all remanded in custody after court, hit with counts of reckless arson that could endanger lives. Meanwhile, two other men got charged in related ops, 26-year-old Jean Charles Tavius from Hackney, for multiple threats, damage, and abuse. After hurling a rocket a car, and 29-year-old Munir Salah from Tottenham for threats, spitting and assaults. Tavius heads to court, May 6, Salah the next day.

1:02Police boosted patrols in hate crime resources, holding regular meets with Jewish leaders to share intel fast. They solved 1,525 hate crimes from October to February this year, twice last year's 764. Commander Andy Featherstone says, they're dead serious about stamping this out, urging folks to report without fear. London's staying on it, to keep the city safe and open for everyone.
