On April 29th, Eli Heidenreich, the kid from Mount Levenon, just got picked by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 7th round of the 2026. NFL Draft, and he's claiming number 29 for his hometown squad. That number ain't one of the black and gold legends, but Tailbag Barry Foster rocked it from 1990 to 94, piling up nearly 4, thousand rushing yards and 26 touchdowns, even snagging all pro honors in 92. Since then, nine different players have worn it. From Savedys like Shamarco Thomas and the recently departed Kyle Dugger, who just signed with the Bengals to running backs and cornerbacks cycling through. Heidenreich sported number 22 at Navy, but that's locked down by cornerback Asante Samuel Jr. now, so 29 it is for the rookie. Growing up a diehard fan, he rocked his dad's Troy Palomalu and Rod Woods in jerseys to games, and he still might have that James Harrison one from. Begging after the Super Bowl pick, six talk about coming full circle for this local

talent.
