.... presenting Washing Wells as the third man. The lives of Harry Lyme, the fabulous stories of the immortal character, originally created in the story, the third man, with the fifth music by Antarun Carrot. This little story of Frost Grady-Low, just happened to happen on a cold new year. It might have happened somewhere else, but no, it was still the tag in the French cold online call The Rizziera, as well as the place.
So it begins to dawn, the lovely tender early dawn of a summer day in 1946. It was created in my career, I was in the cigarette, it's a American cigarette. My end of it is distribution, which in France is organized out of not safe. That's where I was bound on this particular morning. I had a four truckload of a four-leading brand, disguised in cans of powdered milk. And I crossed the border and never mind how far as it filled out. In my six o'clock, I passed through Montecar. I think I was somehow just outside of the open, my soul. She was young, red-headed. She was standing behind a big limousine, trying to push it and she was letting it even go. I slowed up, she seemed to be having trouble. I thought I wasn't budging. She was very beautiful, girl. So I stopped. Got out of the truck, and she was frightened. Went over the car, she's been trying to push. There was a man sitting in so many. I could see who was wearing a dinner jet. He had a black horn and a black, he was maybe broad.
One of which was very interesting, except to be also dead. A lot of time I didn't have him. Stick around, I'll tell you how it ended. You know what? I now, Austin Wells, as Harry Lyme, the third man,
get in today's story, Berder on the River Error. Well, I went back to my truck. And tried to do wrong. Don't ask me, I'm just telling you when I did. I moved the truck up behind the car. She was still standing there on the road looking at me. Hey, you! You're still a bit archer. You didn't have to. You must be stupid, don't you know what I have to take off the brake? I was once, she understood, ran back up the road with a car I opened the door and released the brake. The car was tinkering at the edge of the road and then the lurchship slipped down the embankment. What are you going to do now? I don't know. Where are you going? I don't know. You've got to stand there today, starting people waking up. This would be traffic. Come here. What do you want? I'll give you a lift. You'd better go if I do.
Remember, I've got the gun. What's your name? Daniel. You look like a baby. I'll call you a stupid. Come on, get in and close the door. It'll be on our way. What's your name? Harry. No, I'm taking it. Please? I live in Nice, super. It's a 10-gallon that is away from here. We're going home. I had a room in Nice over a cafe, nothing very grand, but convenient. It was that evening dressed that did it to the life of myself of apologizing as I opened the door. This isn't your style, my lady. I'm sure of Jeff put up with it for a while. You know, bachelor's course. Hey. Hello, Harry. Hello, Kier. What's all this? Why didn't you know he did that so soon? Oh, you did. You did introduce him.
This is Lily. Danny, Danny, this is Lily. I'm sorry, Harry. Don't look so upset. I know how you feel. Oh, I feel. See? I go to bed in general for a couple of days. And by then I found some place to stay. Your human downstairs right now. Come on, go on. I got you things on. I'll go. Go, go where? It's a nice day. Go to get swim. I don't have a bed in here. Here. What's that? 2000 fries. Why are you giving it to me? No, I'll find yourself a baby soon. Good boy. There's something I've got to eat for you. All right, start talking. But make it fast. Remember what I told you before I make it good. Little person, you know, I've got to get to Paris. Well, she's thinking I'm going to drive you there in the truck. No, of course not. Kier. What am I supposed to do with that? It's the key to my room and I would say. What about it? Well, I can't stand the rest of my life in an evening, you know. Sorry, I've got to head my best. I've got to get out of the country, man. Well, Paris, I told you. That's where the money is. Then we'll see. What do you mean, we? What's up to you? So I'm supposed to check you out as I'll tell you.
We'll just put a few things in the bag. You know, things I can wear in the day. I remember to pass through. It's in the drawer by the day. Is that what you wanted to tell me? Why, yes. I thought maybe you were going to do some explaining. Explain. Yes, it was a body in that car. Didn't you notice? I don't think I was. I don't think he shot himself. Well, why not? Why should he? You know what I wanted to do with you? I want to turn you in right now. We've been gambling all night. But he was dead. No, boy. You know what probation is. Prophecy. It's what your wrongs do. But you need help. The idea was I give you a chance to explain things to me first instead of the cops. Well, you've had your chance. Give me a cedar leaf. Here, a cedar leaf. Oh, get some more. Sorry, when you need that, you better go buy the cedar leaf. And remember the plant. Yeah, it's a white the plant, I guess. But Paris, you have to buy them. Let's get back to cases now. Let's get back to cases now. Let's get back to cases now. Who was he? The stiff. Who do you think I mean? The dead body. I don't know. What happened to be in his car? We all had to take him. It was naked. It was done. We've been gambling in the casino all night. And you didn't know it. Well, I was just sitting next to him at the table.
He's taking him for a while. But he started using his suit. He wouldn't let me go. He said something about changing his life. How did he get you in his car? But it was only in his car. We were both going the same way. Well, we aren't. We're going separate ways. First, I'll get you a bag and passport. Your buy is stupid. My truck packed full of smuggled cigarettes. It was waiting in the street below. I couldn't leave it there in full daylight. I should've taken it on a mass save. And I couldn't do that. Still go back to Monte Carlo the day before. I went to the airport at this being holiday time. In France, there wasn't any space. So then I drove over to the railway station. But the seat on the blue train for Paris that night. I came out of the station. I found the late waiting truck. Hello, Harry. Oh, should take my suggestion. Really? And go swimming. Are you leaving for good or bad? Right now I'm going to Monte Carlo. Where are you going? Monte Carlo. I'm a liar. Why is that, Harry? I told somebody this morning if I like to do this. Well, you do. You like them too much.
Lily was a nice kid, but she wasn't making life any easier for me. That private talker and tagging along with me. Lily, would you please tell me just why you're taking this look? Why are you taking this long ride to Monte Carlo? I was just going to ask you the same question. All right, I'll answer it because somebody's in trouble. Oh, what did she do? Did you jump into conclusions? So she did something. I said she was in trouble. That's how you get into trouble. Is it? What are you doing? Well, not necessarily. I'm not in trouble. I mean, she wants me to be. And you lost your job. That's trouble enough. You didn't do anything. You just lied to her. Well, I threw a jinsuit at man and hit him with it. Glass and all? Glass and all. I guess that's doing something. It's so. Well, now what? You mean about me? Yeah. Well, it's nothing working just to keep it. Can I try this one better? You see my eyes. I'm going to dance on a sickling thing. Yeah, yes. You're loosing it. Pretty much. No, it doesn't go into getting any much of it. If you're a dancer, I think you're a girl, it's a good one to dance.
Not with your eyes, but you're a girl. You like me, right? I mean, do I like the way you look? I mean, do I like the way you look? Well, I like the way you look, but you're wasting your time on it. You're married, you're a girl. And like that, I'm not the type. Oh, yes, you're the type. It's just nothing to me. What's wrong with a girl? Why are you hiding? If I'm saying you, I want to do it. What you have? I have helped you. Oh, it's just nothing. You wouldn't help her. Well, why should I? Come to that. Why should you? I get a trial reaction when people are in trouble, because I've been in trouble myself, but I've never changed that. You've helped them first before asking any questions, besides they don't like police. What have the police got to do with it? Well, I was just talking. Look, if a bird flew in your window, what would you do? I'd be scared. Why? It was unsuperstitious. When a bird comes into your house, it keeps there. Okay, let's forget this. Are you superstitious about mice? Who are you trying to explain? I'm trying to explain it point to you.
Not only this, if you ever let a mouse out of a trap. You mean mouse, you mean living, right? Right, right. All right, now that I'm leaving you there, wait for me if you want me to. This is a service entrance, go tell. What do you think? They'd stop me at the front here, hold my coat. And just put it over there. Just hold it. Hold it and wait. I'm going to be an electrician or a plumber, I decided to switch and shirt sleeves. I've got a better chance of getting after a hotel room without even stopping. Yes, that's good. I wanted to help. I went into the hotel in my hearty. I forgot that in that cold I'd given really, there was the gun. Not my gun, one that fell out of the car of the dead man. I don't know why I didn't think of it, but I don't know what I was thinking of that whole day. 407's a number of keys. I went up there, I just went up there, I called, let my soap in. I'd draw by the bed. I found Danny's pastore. The dead manager is mad and Danielle's safe. I put the passport in my pocket open up the smallest of her bags and started hurriedly throwing
some things into it. And the closet I found a tailored suit. I could cut some shoes for the match through the whole thing in the bag. I think that she'd need something, the dressing table, makeup, things like that. That's when I noticed the leather folder, one of those things for folder, so it's flipped to the floor and opened. I looked down at it. There were two pictures of seeds showing Danny and the man, the same man. And one was, they were in ski dogs and in the other, in bathing suits. He was bald with heavy black corn rim glasses and I recognized him. He was the dead man from the car. This moment is the sound of tea turning the lock of the door. I jumped to my feet, dropping a toilet article to reach the door in a single leap and turned the bolt. Oh, hey, go open up there. I didn't answer that. I didn't seem to be much going and getting into composition. I looked wildly around for some means of hiding or escape. Open up. The only thing you can have of the alternative is to see the police. In a moment, Orson Wells returns as Harry Lyme, the third man.
And now Orson Wells as Harry Lyme, the third man, continues today's story, Murder on the Riviera. I rushed to the window of his locks. I kicked it open. It was a balcony and the floor below was quite a drop. But it wasn't that I knew they'd succeed in battering down the door. So I risked it and I should drop safely up on the narrow terrace and jump it only to the matter of some 12 or 15 people. There's four stories between a balcony and the street. My idea was to try climbing into one of the other rooms and getting out that way. I pushed my hand and turned the catch inside. But this is a very fierce looking old dowager. And of course, it's a bit scared me away and I ran to the next window.
That was open. I jumped into the room. A very pretty girl without very much awe. I'm sorry to say I never saw her getting my life was giving herself a pedicure. She looked cycle, but I didn't pause for explanations. I rushed to the door of the room and bolted out into the hall. Then she started to scream. Now, Murder, 20, 20. I started with a stairway that I could see some police and sorted the aggl of bell hops and ports that's converging on my port from above and below. So I turned on my heels and raised down the hall trying to doors the very room. So I kept finding that hunt when it wasn't locked. And that might still be a slamming door and holding it behind me. I picked up a phone. Hello. Now, this is... This... the tree's happened to be there. Well, we'll put it on the phone. I guess you get my friend who had me be a crookian and a casino. He used to hang out at this restaurant and I'd call to bring you a change of clothes over the little children. I could look enough like a tourist going down to the beach made back and get out past the cops. Well, the tree's the crookian was a real friend.
He arrived with sunglasses, a jersey pulled over, a beach robe, and a low-crumbly blue canvas hat. And in that outfit, I managed to ride down the elevator without attracting over much attention. The side of the hotel, however, I found a gang of cops gathered by my truck. They were unloading the cans of powdered milk and prying them open. So that was good buy to the truck, the buy to a very expensive shipment of smuggled cigarettes, and they'd be also good buy to Harry Lime. As casually as possible, I strolled around to the front in order to tan. Lily was nowhere in sight. That was something to be grateful for. 40 minutes later, I was back home and it's not. I can assure you in a very cheerful frame of mind. The one thing that door of my room was locked. He put another my crew-be-friend. The trees had told me that some sportsman spearing on the wall of a fish could come on the car. The bald man had been found in a dangerous place. His name is Hick or Satan. Yes? All praise to you, but let me in.
Oh, who is you? Better let me in, Mrs. Savage. Oh. How much of a welcome. Hey. Hey. Thank you very much. What do you just like that for? Well, I... What do you even do with all this stuff? What do I do? Well, nothing much. Hey! Where's my thing? I forgot it. What? When you might say I was occupied, I'd sort of slipped my mind. But what I've done is that he's been there. I can't say he's a griff. Honey, you're not going to. But he is. Yes. He's still to me, and has I have a few different justice. That makes two of us stupid. The only differences of the catch me, I'll have to serve some time. What for? Breaking and ad-ring for one thing, eating and abatting a murderous burglary and impersonating a tourist. Oh, you're joking. Besides, why would it be you that's in jail? I'm not mean. This is perhaps your good-looking day, and that's useful to anyone. What are you talking about? I'm just stupid. You can make that shooting of yours. Look, just a little bit like a crime of passion. You've maybe got a chance that you've got to start telling the truth just to get into the habit.
I just got a chance. Congratulations. When you were knocking on the door. Yes. What was it you called you? What do you think I called you? Well, I don't think it was a mistake. I called you by your married name, Mrs. Savage. Who did you found that? Yes. Some people went swimming to the impound your husband, girls. Yes, big to save a chess choir. I was wearing a black tie and very little hair. He was sitting in the 1939 humbous night, black with blue friends, got 30 feet underwater. And I warn you, Mrs. Savage, that then you say we'll be used against you. I don't like your gym. I don't like a margita. I want to make up some of your own. Oh. Did you forget something else besides my friend? I don't have any cigarettes. Wait a minute. I know something else you forgot. You heard in the pop of your coat. It's done. Perfect for playing a jule. Still by now I should think it was time to play with it. Listen stupid. Savage's body is identified. Your Mrs. Savage and half a casino must have seen you two driving off together. Forget about the fingerprints and get the work dreaming of that other woman. What other woman? The one he was cheating you with when you found out about it. Everything went red, remember? Before you knew it you'd pull the trigger.
Did it? It wasn't happening at all. Okay, okay, I'll let your own way. Why do you see it? Don't try it on me. You see, the little attention. That all I can take. Hey. Yes. Nothing I guess. But what are you doing? I'm changing my clothes, stupid. It's a faceto I borrowed from downstairs. But why? Why did you have to eat? I don't know what's worse. Your questions are here. Listen stupid. You forgot to travel in. Is it evening grass? I've got to get you from here to the station. It's summer. It'll be light. But with me and the faceto you stand at the other side of the night. I've been noticed. Maybe they'll think we're going to a ball. And what happens when I get to Paris in the morning? You've got money in Paris, remember? Here. What is it now? I don't really have any money here. I just said that. Well, I need this far. OK, how much can you get by with? How much? Now I know you're a stupid money, of course. How much money? For a gut money. Yeah. What's it mean? I've got 15 million friends. What? Right here in my bag.
It's what you want. Your husband? My ex-husband. You mention the divorce. You didn't ask. And what were the two of you doing in Monte Carlo together? We just happened to meet at the casino and then he started to win. Go on. You wouldn't let me go because he was afraid that my change is up. You will know how to answer. So now you changed his luck for it? No, I didn't pay it over. I don't know. OK, still, but OK, keep your distance. I don't think I like you. Or when did that later? When did your husband start to lose? We didn't. He just went on with it. He didn't lose it over. I just said it. Oh, why? Why? What the sake did you learn about that? Because of the matter. But 15 million friends. They tried. That's order to keep the distance. And I told you I knew. I don't know just yet. There's probably more about the money. Don't be so lazy. I don't know. It's... I rather talk about the money. The 15 million friends remember? That's quite a lot. I guess it was enough. Well, you see, now the picture and I were getting a little bit worse. I thought they might decide it wasn't mine.
Well, you know, it's mine. Listen, you sexy little monster. There's 15 minutes to train time. You know, I'm going to get fired. And all the only reason I'm doing this is because I'm just a little bit cracked. You're not anything new, you see. I'm the kind of fellow who refuses jury to be an emergent trial. And that's my style of traps. You're going to get it, super-dial. Catch you if this isn't going to be me that's going to be in. By the way, where's the gun? Really has it. You met her this morning. You're going to get a tanker from the pocket. Get fired out of the junk. Broke. She's pretty sure. What do you want with the gun? I thought I'd sort of the Mediterranean stupid guns can be traced to you. It wasn't like I'm here. It was he. He tempted in the practice. And you should get out of the glove compartment shot him dead with it just like that. No, no, no, no, just like that. Not like that either. You honestly think you're nothing. Right, Harry, what reason would I have? 15 million francs is a pretty good reason, honey. I feel like giving it to you, is that it's a saddley argument with a couple of bullets. Harry! Well. So that's what you really think?
I guess there's an any point in our talking about it. No, honey. I'm sorry, I guess it's a take your money. Let's get out of here. I got out of the station, okay, I'm into a compartment. She told me she was hungry. A couple of minutes to stress her on the cross the way to get her something to eat her. On the way back, I found Lily waiting on the platform. What are you doing here? I'm not going any more. Hey, I just thought. Give me back what I've done. You don't need it. I don't need it. I don't even want it. Let me do you when you're better off without, come on, get it. Harry. Yes. Why are you going back to her now? Tension, apparently. Got a ticket. Is that all? No, I'm not sure, right? I just wish. What? Well, I wish I had a better idea of what she's really like. Shall I tell you? Yeah. You wouldn't believe it. There's again. You decide to go to Paris Harry. Send me a course card.
Harry. Hello. You're going to come in another 20 seconds here. It's a piece of the restaurant across the way. There's some wine. Oh, stop it. Stop it. Make it with a big blue eyes. Tell me what happened in that car. Or don't. That's up to you. But quit the kidding. What's the use you want to leave? Nobody seems to think I'll believe them. Why don't you try? Well, what really happened is this. He owed me the money and I tried to get it away from me. It was really mine. You see, mine was mine. It was mine. It was mine. It was mine. It was mine. It was mine. It was mine. It was really mine. You see, mine by that. It was me. It started scrubbing and before I knew it, I... Look. Look. It's there out of the window. I turned. And then, passing outside, you see a crowd of police. I read something. I have to go to my top full of cigarettes. Then Mr. Flowers. Who you get? After all you told me. No, Danny. I didn't tell anybody. I swear I didn't. Hey. What are you doing? I told Danny you'll talk and give it to me. You'll be a fool. Give it a thought. They're not coming out to you. You told them you've tried. Danny. Danny. The next minute, the compartment was sworn in with cops.
They grabbed them, got the gun away from them. That's pretty much good. I had a nasty walled in my shoulder. Take the woman away. I'm your under arrest. First, we'll get to a doctor. I'll down at least. I know now that you're last or at least. What's going on? What did you think? You tried to hold up, say that you've been done. Grabbed for a chip or the trip. These were exactions. We said so. I couldn't help it, Harry. I just put my... I had some of the guns sticking out of your pocket. Come on, take it out. Give this man your. It's good, he. Good bye. Good bye. No, no, let me prove it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. What's this? There's another girl. What's she doing here? Harry. Lily, down on the back of the way. You took her back. Send that girl away. No, you saw her. So I tried, but I guess I'd stuck with her. Harry. Get to me, Harry. I won't be using her room to the pile of the tape. You'll have a hospital and that's that. You can move her, Lily. You want to move? Lily? Oh, just Lily. It's a nice girl, obviously. But she's still good.
Harry, lie, but burns in just a moment. And all, Harry, lie. So here I am. In the hospital. But the doctor says I'll soon be up in the room.
Maybe around is the wrong word. The other part of this is more active. Up on a charge of cigarettes. Well, I guess that's all for now. By the way, don't let this sad little table frustrated love and violence death. Keep you from taking your holiday in the river of the earth. But it is done bad for the air anymore often anywhere else. And generally speaking in this thought of the world love doesn't get frustrated. Just keep your powdered dry hand look out for that move. It's a low demand. So long now.
So long now. So long now.
