And some children may not be able to handle what others can. Parental consent is recommended. Now, for tonight's MicroTerror! Too Perfect! Written by Tyler, age 12. Something clicked in Rob's mind when he woke up. Something so small he barely noticed. It was spring break. Thank gosh there's no school! Rob said to himself. Something was off, however. He wasn't tired like he is in the morning. That sounded fine, but to him it was very off. His parents were still asleep. He went downstairs for breakfast. Strangely, his kitchen looked slick. Strangely, orderly. He grabbed a box of flakes and opened it up. He poured the cereal into the bowl so neatly.
He opened the fridge. Well, we need milk. He mumbled to himself. As he closed the... Wait! There was milk! Was he that tired? He poured the milk and took a big bite. Weird, he said. But why? He couldn't place it. It tasted fine. Too fine. He heard birds chirp on cue. Now everything felt off. His heart was beating fast. He ran outside and everything felt nice. The sky was clear. A gentle breeze and a perfect temperature. Everything is wrong! He yelled. He yanked the grass, but it squished in his hands. The dirt as well felt like dough. It was all fake. Whatever snapped in him before, finally took shape. Get out! He ran to his front door, but it melted right in front of him. The whole house melted. The sky, the trees, melted to reveal a black void.
A hand grabbed him and it was over. He snapped back. He was in his living room, staring at a window. It was static, like a TV. The hand came through. Now he knew what to do. He grabbed it and pulled himself through. Like a portal. Now he was in a white room. The hand was of his fathers. He couldn't figure out what was going on. But then it hit him. The earth was destroyed. All of the head scientists and head leaders were taken under one spaceship to repopulate. Are you okay? His dad asked. How was it? You know, I think it may be too perfect. Robert replied. The Dead Night. Written by Christian, age 7. There was a kid who liked to play named John.
He was happy to live on a street where he had so many friends his age. They loved to play baseball. But their game got canceled because John's parents were calling him home for dinner. His parents said, John! As they opened the back door, time for dinner! John said goodbye to his friends and he headed home. When he sat down at the dinner table, he saw some red, sticky slime on the floor in his chair. John was so hungry when he saw the fruit salad and steak his mom and made. He quickly forgot about the weird red gooey slime he had just seen. When he was done with his dinner, he put his plate in the sink. He went to bed and he slept. It was now midnight. John woke up when he heard a creepy sound. He quickly looked around his room and he saw that it was a slimy, big, scary monster. John ran super fast to his mommy and daddy's room and then the creature went after him.
The creature followed John out of his room but he wasn't quick enough to grab him. John ran into his parents' room and slammed the door behind him. His parents were very confused about what John was telling them about a noise and a monster, but John's dad said he would go check the hallway. John's dad definitely saw what John was talking about and called the cops. The police came quickly, saw the monster as well and then his parents let him sleep in their bed. Because he heard a scary noise and had been chased by a monster. It was the morning time and John checked his closet. There was nothing. He went to check one more time. Again, there was nothing. But then he heard a scary noise again, a scratching, throny, horrible sound, only a monster could make. Turns out it was just his silly dad brushing his tongue a little too far back. The end.
The strange light. Written by Ethan. Age 8. Have you ever had one of those days where something just feels off? Well, this was one of those days. A couple years ago when I was a little younger, me and my brother Pete were kind of crazy kids. We loved adventures. This day, this day changed everything. One time we were walking home from school when we spotted a strange light. It didn't look normal. It reminded me of something scary, like siren head. We had already faced something like that before and my brother Pete had almost gone missing. So when I saw the light, I didn't feel right about it. Pete looked at me and said, I'm not going missing again, alright? I laughed, but inside I was thinking this is not good. Then we heard loud footsteps. Well, I don't like this, Pete said.
Oh, calm down, I told him. Probably just an earthquake. Stop it, Pete said. This is serious. Even though I'm five, I'm still responsible. Alright, Mr. Grown-up Pants, I said, let's go check it out. So we walked closer. The light was glowing above us, warm but strange. Then we saw it more clearly. It had long, pole legs and lights at the top. We looked at each other. It's fine, right? Pete said. It's sure, sure, I said. But in my head, I knew we were not fine. Then the scariest thing happened. It started moving. Run, I screamed. Don't have to tell me, Pete yelled. The thing chased us around the block. We ran as fast as we could until our parents saw us. Get inside. Pete and John's parents yelled in unison. We rushed into the house. When was that thing? Pete said, it almost attacked us or killed us.
Mom and dad looked serious, then mom said, boys, have we ever told you about the time before we got married when we saw something like that too? We shook our heads. We never knew what it was. Dad added, but it's real. Pete looked at them. So siren head is real. And this thing is real too. Yes, mom said quietly. Then she asked, you boys didn't go near Snake Road. Did you? We looked at each other and shook our heads. But we were lying. Good. Dad said, don't ever go there again. And after that day, we never went to Snake Road again.
