This is really great for the first of the year as a review and a planning tool,
0:06
but it's also fantastic anytime throughout the year that you're feeling like you need to really
0:11
get re-established with who you are and what's truly important to you.
0:18
This is the meditation minis podcast with your host hypnotist, Shell Hamilton.
0:24
This meditation is based on the book Five Wishes by Gay Hendrix. It's a shortened version of
0:32
those five wishes and done in a guided way. Go ahead now and close your eyes and take three deep
0:39
breaths letting out a little sigh on the exhale. Signalling to your body and mind that it is time
0:46
to relax, to unwind, to check in on the inside. And as you finish up those breaths just allowing
0:55
the sound of my voice to make any effort at all that it takes, I'd like you to imagine yourself
1:02
walking down a path. The path to someplace that feels really beautiful and safe for you.
1:10
Maybe you're walking into a glade in the forest or maybe you're making your way down a cliff
1:16
side to the beach or maybe it's a campfire someplace or you're walking downstairs to a room in your
1:25
home or home in which you grew up in. There's no right or wrong here just go with whatever feels
1:31
best for you. Walking down that path are those steps to a safe place where you can kick back
1:40
and feel safe to reflect and relax. And as you arrive in that place making yourself
1:48
comfortable, maybe noticing the colors that you would see or the sound or the way it smells,
1:54
getting a sense of the safety wrapping itself around you.
2:00
And I'd like you now as you sit in that safe place in your mind to imagine yourself going
2:06
very quickly forward in time to you in the last moments of your life.
2:14
And as you're in those last moments of your life, I don't know how old you picture yourself being
2:20
or how it feels. But as you're in those last moments looking back on the life that you lived,
2:29
ask yourself, what is my biggest free graph? What is the one thing I wish I had done but never
2:36
did? What's my second biggest regret? What is something that I always told myself I was
2:48
going to do but I didn't do or I didn't do it as much as I could? What time or place or connections
2:55
did I waste? Become aware of the second thing that you regret the most.
3:01
And I know this can be a little difficult but don't worry, we're going to make it positive, I promise.
3:12
And now the third biggest regret of your entire life, what is it? What comes to mind of what you
3:20
wish that you could go back and change as you picture yourself there on your deathbed looking
3:26
back what would you change? Now imagine yourself writing down those three things,
3:33
see them in your mind in your own handwriting, those three great regrets and as you look at them
3:42
there in front of you, allow yourself to come back to that safe place and as you sit there see
3:50
them there in front of you. And see yourself with that paper there in front of you in the safe
3:59
place and as you see those three regrets I know they may be difficult and painful to look at
4:05
but now you get to make the plan, to make the change to rearrange, what would you do differently
4:14
to ensure that that regret is never going to happen? And list right there those three things that
4:25
you would do differently. Does it mean going to the gym or going to yoga so that your body is strong?
4:35
Does it mean every week making a play date with your kids on Saturdays and keeping it as a sacred
4:42
commitment? These are just ideas you choose for you and when you come up out of this meditation today
4:52
I encourage you to grab a piece of paper and don't write down those regrets, write down those
4:58
three changes that will ensure they never happen.
5:02
Please, that piece of paper someplace that you can see it every day and make that commitment to
5:13
yourself, to those that you care for, to live those three solutions more and more powerfully than
5:24
ever before. As you prepare now to open your eyes
5:33
and go ahead, open your eyes and and grab a piece of paper, write those three solutions down.
